4 1 PRODUCTS INDEX 2 Partners in Community Health service Jordan Bio Industries Center Jovac was established in 1986 by The Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with the assistance of the German Government through the GTZ for manufacturing of veterinary vaccine and biological diagnostic reagents. It is located in a forest isolated area, 10 miles north of Amman. In April 1997, Jovac was privatized with a capital of 2million US$ keeping 20% of the shares to Jordan Government. Jovac is committed to supply products that meet the requirements of its customer at all times. We, therefore, provide consistent quality products through the implementation of Good Quality Management System. Our products also conform to Governmental Regulations and International Standards GMPS and GLPS specifications in manufacturing veterinary vaccines are implemented according to International Standards of OIE, FAO and WHO agencies to assure high quality vaccines and biological products. The products are sent abroad to International Reference Laboratories for certification e.g. Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany for poultry vaccines, CNEVA/AFSSA Laboratories in France for Brucella vaccines, Pirbright Laboratories in UK for pox vaccines and BGA Laboratories in Germany for Rose Bengal antigen and Panvac Laboratories (FAO) in Ethiopia for PPR vaccine. Most of the vaccine reference master seeds used in Jovac are imported from Weybridge Central Laboratories in England, Pirbright, Laboratories in England, Manisa Poultry Vaccine Laboratories in Turkey, SPAFAS Laboratories in USA and ATCC Center in USA. The laboratories of Jovac are equipped with all necessary high technology equipment for vaccine production and quality control testing. Bacterial and viral vaccines for animals and poultry, together with ELISA kits, antigens, complements, and other biological materials are produced by Jovac. A highly qualified team of experts with different specializations are responsible for the production and development of the different vaccines and biological reagents. Jovac is keen to continuous training programs to all technical staff to create a capable dynamic team committed to company progress. Today, Jovac provides the veterinary practitioners, animal and poultry breeders with the finest products of basic research and development.

5 3 PRODUCTS INDEX 4 We now sell to over 20 countries a series of modern vaccines for poultry, cattle, sheep, goats, horses and camels together with biological diagnostic kits to diagnose and control animal diseases in order to improve animal health status and production parameters. This list contains brief information on the products available. More detailed information on any product will be provided on request. WING-WEB VACCINATION INTRAMUSCULAR VACCINATION Insert the needle through the wing-web from beneath, take care to avoid feathered parts of the web. Minor swelling may occur at the site of vaccination which will disappear within 3 weeks. Inject into the muscles of the hindleg or neck of ruminants or breast of chicken. In general, this route is recommended for all bacterial oil vaccines. ROUTES OF VACCINATAION SUBCUTANEOUS VACCINATION Under the skin, a loose fold in the region of dewlap or breast, side of neck or over the shoulder is picked up and the injection made. OCULAR NASAL ORAL AEROGENIC Dissolve the vaccine in physiological saline solution and administer by means of standardized dropper (usually 30ml per 1000 doses). The drop is administered in the eye, holding the bird until the drop has gone into it. Release the bird gently in order to avoid that the drop comes out the eye. The drop is administered in the nostril, obstructing the other nostril with the finger. Vaccinator should ensure that the nasal drop is inhaled by the bird. The temperature of the drinking water should not exceed 15-20oC. Make sure to have sufficient number of water containers to provide adequate space, these containers should be clean and free from traces of detergents and disinfectants. Skimmed powdered milk will be added as usual for a better protection of the virus. Do vaccinate birds in early morning because this is the main period of drinking. The vaccine medicated water should be spread over the correct number of birds, at a distance of cm, preferably when the birds are sitting together in dim light. -COARSE SPRAY Vaccination with big drops should be used in the first days of life. -FINE SPRAY Avoid vaccination with small drops in the first days of life. This vaccination method should be only used for revaccinations.

6 5 PRODUCTS INDEX 6 INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE SUITABLE STORAGE AND USE OF VACCINES 1. Maintain cleanliness at all times 2. Store vaccines according to instructions to retain their potency until the expiry date printed on the label. 3. Apply usual aseptic procedures for the preparation of the vaccinal solution. 4. Reconstitute the pelted freeze-dried vaccine with diluent provided (not chlorinated water) and the reconstituted vaccine must be used immediately. 5. Use the whole contents of a bottle/vial of vaccine once the bottle is opened. If any vaccine is left over, it should not be kept for the following day and must be burned or destroyed properly. 6. Administer the vaccine according to the recommended instruction. 7. Use only clean sterile needles and replace them frequently. 8. Use sterile syringes and needles, and handle them carefully with clean dry hands. 9. Do not use chemicals for syringes and needles which are going to be used for vaccines made with living organisms. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A CORRECT VACCINATION 1. Always be alert for signs of disease and conditions which might produce stress, and only vaccinate animals and birds in good healthy conditions. 2. Remember to prepare the dilutions under sterile conditions. 3. Make sure that inactivated vaccines must be used at room temperature at the moment of vaccination. 4. Protect reconstituted vaccine from light and heat and be used within 2 hours. 5. Consult your veterinarian to check the immune status of birds prior to vaccination. If the antibody levels are very high, those could interfere with the immune response of vaccination. 6. Conjunctival administration of vaccine in small ruminants is safe, but rapid ocular administration of vaccine in birds may leave high percentages of unvaccinated birds. 7. For spray vaccination, spray the vaccine solution above the birds using a sprayer capable of producing fine droplets which is used for older birds more than 4 weeks of age. Close windows and fans for 15 minutes while spraying. The spraying apparatus should be free from sediments, corrosion and traces of disinfectants. Aerosol generators should be used only when this is known to be safe to the birds. 10. Always observe the batch number and expiry date of the vaccine, and record vaccination date details of any reaction observed. 11. Keep the vaccines protected from direct light or sunlight.

7 7 PRODUCTS INDEX 8 8. For an oral vaccination, reconstitute the vaccine with cool drinking water with no chlorine or antiseptic. Add 0.2%of skimmed powdered milk (2g/L) to stabilize the vaccine activity and to have a better protection of the virus doses of vaccine should be dissolved in as many litres of water as the age of the birds in days, to a maximum of 40 litres. 9. Deprive birds of drinking water 1-2 hours before vaccination if vaccines are orally administered via drinking water. LIST OF PRODUCTS Jovac products are manufactured according to GMP and GLP standards and a number of products were certified by International Reference laboratories. In 1997 Jovac introduced its first products into the Jordanian market and so far, Jovac has developed many products divided in several categories. 10. Vaccinated animals and birds should be protected from bad weather and stress factors. 11. If vaccination is administered by coarse or fine spray, use first clean water to know the amount of diluent required for each 1,000 birds. 12. Observe the instruction for proper handling and storage of vaccine. 13. Accidental inoculation to man may result in local and systemic reaction.
