4 EPI- CLIN- LAB- All networks will collaboratively identify hospitals of interest s will be from North, South, East and West Europe
5 EPI- CLIN- LAB- on test days (regardless of test requested) will be tested at a European central laboratory using recommended optimal testing methodology to find true burden of CDI
6 EPI- CLIN- LAB- Isolates of C. difficile identified from the community and hospital will be sent for further analysis; including PCRribotyping and whole genome sequencing to identify factors that may be driving clustering of strains Strains sent for analysis O1.2
7 EPI- CLIN- LAB- Retrospective data collection for risk factors O1.4 Clinical report form deigned to capture data for risk factor analysis and outcome data on all positive (ECL defined) and a proportion of negative ; completed 6 months after sample collection date Follow up for 6 months; outcome data O1.3 Strains sent for analysis O1.2
8 EPI- CLIN- LAB- Retrospective data collection for risk factors O1.4 Transmission modelling O1.5 Follow up for 6 months; outcome data O1.3 Strains sent for analysis O1.2 All data from, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 will be used for the transmission modelling analysis in O1.5
