1 news CENTRE WPSH weekly newsletter of West Parry Sound Health Centre November 12 to CEO Open Staff Forum Cafeteria Wednesday 14 November 2:30 p.m. Flu shot clinic this week Friday, November a.m. to noon Flu vaccine myth #14... I don t need another flu shot. I got one last year. Fact: Flu strains can change every year. The vaccine that protected you last year may not fully protect you from the type of flu going around this year. Also, the vaccine s protection may last only up to one year, so you need a flu shot every year to boost your natural protection. Protection by the vaccine develops within two weeks after you have been immunized, so it s important to get it as soon as possible in the fall. The earlier you get it, the sooner you re protected. A great performer gets as much as she gives! Michelle Wright toured the health centre prior to her Foundation fundraising concert performance last Wednesday. After chatting with guests in the lobby, she gave an impromptu concert for patients and staff. With just enough time for a quick tour after her lobby performance, Michelle stopped in to visit Rhonda Pawis. Rhonda has been a patient in the health centre for an extended time, keeping her amazing spirit fed by creating hundreds of Dream Catchers. Michelle was thrilled to receive one of Rhonda s creations, saying it will receive a place of honour in her home in Nashville! Rhonda s Dream Catchers are stunning -- catching all dreams, good and bad. The bad dreams get caught in the webbing and are held there until morning light when they are burned off by the newly rising sun. The good dreams are also caught but they know their way through the hole in the center of the catcher, making their way to the dreamer who wakes up remembering only the good dreams!
