3 DASK Maintenance Sterilization and Instrument Care Procedures Introduction to DASK DASK Drills Drills for Crestal Approach 04 Please follow legal regulations, as well as hygienic guidelines to prevent contamination and infection. Please remember that you are responsible for the maintenance and sterility of your medical/dental products/device. It is important to use and follow proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization procedures. It is also important to follow the manufacture's recommendation on usage of drills. Please keep a log as to how many times the drills are used. Drill usage is determined by surgical site not per patient. Bone density and usage determine the life of the drills. Drills should be considered for replacement around uses based on bone density. Check drills often for wear. DASK Drill #1 XRT DASK Drill #2 XRT The distance from the alveolar crest to the sinus floor should be measured on x-rays prior to surgery. Site preparation is preformed with the twist drills in sequence up to 1mm short of the sinus floor. DASK Drill #1 or #2 is used and the sinus floor is carefully prepared under light apical pressure. When you feel the sinus floor give, remove drill. Or, partial preparations with DASK Drill #1 or #2 and up-fracture with osteotomes can be performed. * The internal irrigation not only has a cooling effect, it adds hydraulic pressure to slightly lift the sinus during drilling Pre-soaked all drills for minutes in a 5% sodium hypochlorite bath to loosen and prevent debris from attaching to drills, then rinse with running water. DO NOT SOAK OVER NIGHT. 02 Scrub with a soft brush to remove any debris. 03 For internal irrigation drills use a reamer or small gauge needle to cleanout drill internally. 04 Use an ultrasonic cleaner, wrap drills in a 2 x 2 to prevent rubbing against each other. 05 Rinse thoroughly under warm water. 06 Clean all instrument trays with a germicidal cleaner prior to replacing instruments in kit. 07 Dry completely and place back into kit. 08 Always check for damage or corrosion after rinsing and drying. 09 Seal the tray in a sterilization pouch. 10 Sterilize using a steam autoclave in 121 C/250F for 30 minutes or refer to manufactures recommendations. 11 Store in a dry area at room temperature. Maintenance Period for DASK Drills All surgical drills shall be replaced after approximately 20 uses based on bone density DASK Drill #3 XED Drills for Lateral Approach When the sinus cavity is accessed, DASK Drill #3 is introduced and a much broader detachment from the sinus floor can be facilitated horizontally with hydraulic pressure. DASK Drill #3 can be used for a lateral window approach. * The internal irrigation not only has a cooling effect, it adds hydraulic pressure to slightly lift the sinus during drilling. To make a lateral window using the DASK Drill #4 or #5. DASK Drill #1 DASK Drill #4 * DASK Drill #4 or #5 is used to prepare a lateral sinus window using light pressure and rotating stokes. The DASK Drill #4 or #5 is designed to help prevent sinus perforation. DASK Drill #4 XRT DASK Drill #5 XRT DASK Drill #2 DASK Drill #5 To make a lateral window using the DASK Drill #6, removing a the bone core which can then be used to close the lateral window. DASK Drill #3 DASK Drill #6 DASK Drill #6 XST * DASK Drill #6 is used to prep a bony core into the lateral wall. Use careful consideration while drilling. Stop drilling when you start to see the shadow of sinus membrane. Overdrilling can cause sinus perforation and possible damage to the membrane.

4 Crestal Approach (Sinus Lifting) Crestal Approach 07 Crestal Approach using DASK Drill #1, #2, #3 06 Clinical Case Preoperative panoramic view After Ø3.8 Final drilling, eliminate the residual bone (1mm) using a DASK Drill #1 or #2. (in hard bone) Use (OSTEON Lifting) bone graft material to fill the sinus through the osteotomy. Use dome-shaped sinus curette to gently lift the sinus membrane. Lift the sinus membrane using a DASK Drill #3 with internal irrigation. Lightly condense OSTEON into the sinus. Placement of implant into the osteotomy. Prepare site with twist drills to the resistance of the cortical bone of the sinus floor. Postoperative panoramic view When you feel the sinus floor "give" then use a dome-shaped sinus curette. When a sunken sensation is felt, change to a dome-shaped curette. Using Osteotomes OSTEON After drilling, use an osteotome. Use an osteotome to make a greenstick fracture. Use a dome-shaped sinus curette to gently lift the sinus membrane. Sinus membrane felt and detached. Lifting introduced. Implant placed (SuperLine). Graft material lightly condensed. GBR to achieve verticohorizontal augmentation.

5 Lateral Approach using DASK Drill #4 or #5 Clinical Case 1 : Lateral Approach using DASK Drill #4 or #5 09 Clinical Case 08 Lateral Approach (Sinus Elevation) Detach Sinus membrane using a dome-shape sinus curette. Implant (SuperLine 5010SW) used for installation. Bone graft material (Osteon Sinus) placed into the sinus cavity and around the periimplant defect. Place DASK Drill #4 or #5 at a 45 degree angle against the lateral wall, and make pivoting sweeping motions until a shadow of the sinus wall shows through. If the lateral wall needs to be a expanded, Grind and move with DASK Drill #4 or #5 simultaneously as shown on the left. Elevate the sinus membrane to create adequate space for graft material. Lateral Approach using DASK Drill #6 Clinical Case 2 : Lateral Approach using DASK Drill #6 After lifting the sinus membrane with a currette use DASK Drill #3 to hydraulic lift the sinus. DASK Drill #6 is used to prep a bony core into the lateral wall. Use careful consideration while drilling. Stop drilling when you start to see the shadow of sinus membrane. Overdrilling can cause sinus perforation and possible damage to the membrane. Thin wall Thick wall In the case of thin bone, drill with caution. The first laser mark is 1.5mm. In the case of thick bone, drill with caution. The second laser mark is 3.0mm. Bony window prepared with DASK Drill #6. Preoperative panoramic view Postoperative panoramic view Dome-shaped sinus curette introduced to separate the seal around the bony window. Osteoconductive graft material(osteon Sinus) introduced. Fill bone graft material (OSTEON Sinus) into the sinus cavity. Implant placed (SuperLine). The bony core repositioned.
