Angled abutments are available in multiple angles thereby making them absolutely parallel to each other so that a passive fit of the casting can be achieved. The system has straight and angled post guides that correspond to various abutments. As a result, on the day of the surgery, immediately following implant placement, before placing healing screw, abutment guides are used to select appropriate abutments for future use. The practitioner will have 4-6 months to order the selected abutments. This eliminates the need for large inventory of abutments thereby reducing initial investment substantially and making this system most economical. The system has hand instruments which can be combined with the drills so that in an event of power failure or equipment failure (handpiece, physiodispensor, motor, irrigation device, etc. ) the clinician can still complete the Osteotomy procedure and successfully place the implant. The Unipost Implant System has three different designs of implants. The Screw and Tapered type implants are available in 7 different diameters and four different lengths. The D-Fin implant is available in 4 different diameters and 2 different lengths. These three designs of implants with wide ranges of sizes allow management of several different clinical situations depending upon available bone. The system has osteotomes which allows placement of implants in thin bone in the maxilla without the use of any drills, handpiece, and physiodispensor. The entire maxillary arch can be treated with the use of simple osteotomes. Tatum Surgical carries straight, offset, and tapered osteotomes. Implants are manufactured by engineers who with very sound bio-mechanical principles routinely manufacture titanium devices for NASA of NASA standards. Unipost implants are very economical as compared to most of the other implant systems. Current prices are $110 for all available implants. The system is designed to utilize bone expansion concept which provides very good esthetic results in anterior maxilla. The drills are designed for internal irrigation for better osteotomy preparation. The abutments are designed in a way to allow the clinician to screw them as well as cement them thereby providing stability to the final prosthesis. The same abutments fit all three designs of implants. Hence the name Unipost Implant System is quite justified and most appropriate. It is by far the simplest system to use. All fixed prostheses are cemented. Once abutments are placed, the remaining procedure is routine crown and bridge dentistry. The abutments have a smooth surface collar which can be prepared and included in the prosthesis thereby making the implant, the abutment, and the crown a single unit, which physiologically mimics a natural tooth. Surgically and prosthetically, it is a much simpler system to use as compared to most other implant systems. Usually, other implant systems require two surgical procedures and complicated prosthetic procedures using several unnecessary parts like analogs, transfer copings, etc. This adds extraneous steps, laboratory time, and expense, thus increasing a greater chance for error.
