EMMA MCGLASHAN MEET THE SPEAKERS Dr Emma Dougherty qualified in 2002 from the University of Glasgow with Commendation and attaining distinctions in Paediatric dentistry and Orthodontics.

Emma has practiced in Northern Ireland for the past 12 years working as a GDP in mixed NHS/Private practices. During this time she has developed an interest in aesthetic dentistry.

She has worked through courses in Inman aligner, clear aligners, and Clear smile fixed braces becoming the second fully accredited member of the Academy.

3 EMMA MCGLASHAN MEET THE SPEAKERS Dr Emma Dougherty qualified in 2002 from the University of Glasgow with Commendation and attaining distinctions in Paediatric dentistry and Orthodontics. Emma worked in the Maxillofacial surgery and Orthodontic departments in Glasgow and Liverpool for 2 years and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow. Emma has practiced in Northern Ireland for the past 12 years working as a GDP in mixed NHS/Private practices. During this time she has developed an interest in aesthetic dentistry. Over the past 5 years Emma s passion for minimally invasive aesthetic dentistry attracted her to the IAS academy. She has worked through courses in Inman aligner, clear aligners, and Clear smile fixed braces becoming the second fully accredited member of the Academy. Having competed Prof Hobson s IAS advanced course, she now undertakes comprehensive orthodontic cases and is a mentor for Clear Smile Brace. Emma is an active member of the European Society of Aesthetic Orthodontics. ANOOP MAINI Anoop Maini has been offering cosmetic orthodontics to his patients for over 12 years in London s West End. He has trained over a 1000 dentists internationally on this technique. He is the founding president of the European society of aesthetic orthodontics and the immediate past president of the British academy of Cosmetic dentistry. He is also part of the editorial board of Orthodontic Update. RICHARD PORTER Richard is a Consultant in Restorative And Implant Dentistry. He is a GDC recognised specialist in Prosthodontics, Periodontics, Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry. He is Clinical Lead at St. George s Hospital where he is also lead educational supervisor for specialists in training. He maintains a specialist referral private practice and is Co-Founder of The Aspire Dental Academy who provide extensive advanced post graduate hands on training in Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics. SALMAN SIDDIQI Salman graduated from Newcastle University in 2013 and has since been strongly committed to continued post graduate learning and development. He completed a year of core training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2015 with the North West Deanery during which he passed his MFDS diploma examinations at the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. He started his AAO journey after completing the Inman Aligner Certification course in 2015 and has since gone back to general practice focusing his interests on minimally invasive cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He has had a case study on the Inman Aligner published which was also selected by the IAS mentors as Case of the Month. He is currently working on achieving the Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the Royal College Edinburgh and is director of the Teesside Dentinal Tubules study club providing hands-on events and CPD evenings for local members. CHRIS DAKIN Chris Dakin qualified from the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry in 2002, and gained his MFGDP(UK) in He has spent the majority of his career as an associate in general dental practice in the Midlands, and has interests in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, occlusion and TMD. Amongst numerous postgraduate courses undertaken, he has completed the core and advanced curricula of the Dawson Academy, and is a teaching assistant for the Dawson Academy UK. He also held a part-time clinical lecturer position with the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry for seven years. He has lectured regionally and nationally on occlusion in restorative dentistry, and since 2013 has worked at The Carisbrooke Specialist Dental Centre in Leicester. NEIL HARRIS Dr Neil Harris owns an amalgam free private practice near Stroud in Gloucestershire. He was a Director for the British Academy od Cosmetic Dentistry from 2010 to He completed the Dawson Academy UK Core Curriculum in He has lectured internationally on cosmetic dentistry and has just finished studying under Professor Ross Hobson on the IAS Advanced Orthodontic course. Since 2011 he has worked as a teaching assistant at the Dawson Academy UK. At his practice he provides comprehensive orthodontic treatment, dental implants and comprehensive restorative treatments, including full mouth rehabilitations. TIF QURESHI Tif Qureshi qualified from Kings College London in He is the Past President of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, He is a clinical director of IAS Academy, an International faculty that provides mentored education for general dentists on a pathway from appropriate simple to comprehensive orthodontics Tif has a special interest in simple orthodontics and truly minimally invasive dentistry. He has committed his life s work to empowering dentists to provide important alternative techniques to offer a wide variety of treatments to many more patients. And not violating the fundamental precepts of orthodontics- Tif also pioneered the concept of Progressive Smile Design through Alignment, Bleaching, Bonding and is also an experienced teacher in the Dahl concept to assist in minimally invasive, patient-centred dentistry. Tif now lectures nationally and internationally and has had many articles published on all these subjects. IAN BUCKLE Liverpool born Ian qualified from Liverpool University in He has over 30 years experience in general practice both in the Private sector and with the National Health Service. He runs a Private Practice in the picturesque village of Thornton Hough on the Wirral concentrating on comprehensive reconstructive, aesthetic and implant dentistry. Ian is also Director of The Dawson Academy UK and teaches dentists around the world the foundations of Complete Dentistry as taught by The Dawson Academy founder, Pete Dawson. He is involved directly with the hands on courses of the Core Curriculum, seminars, & study clubs and provides continuing education to dental professionals across Europe. He also lectures nationally and internationally on functional and aesthetic dentistry. He spends approximately two-thirds of his time in practice and the other third as an educator. He believes this balance keeps him on the leading edge of both disciplines. RAHEEL MALIK After graduating with Honours from Biomedical Sciences, Raheel qualified as a dentist in 2010 from King s College London, having won multiple awards as a student. In 2009, he won student clinician of the year and also won the UK Dentsply/Ceram.X Case Contest amongst many others. Raheel graduated receiving the prestigious Academy of Operative Dentistry Award. He has also won awards since graduation. Raheel had his first publication as a final year student and has since been published a further five times in several journals including the Journal of Oral Implantology, Dental Update and the International Journal of Dentistry. Raheel is a firm believer in post-graduate training. His vision for the way dentistry should be taught together with his frustration at the lack of good quality hands-on post graduate training available in the UK gave him the vision to set up Aspire that would deliver the best hands-on training, with no compromises in the quality and delivery of teaching.

Chris will speak about his experiences as an associate in general dental practice and how the complete examination has helped him to treat patients to a higher level, and progress his career to work alongside a multi-disciplinary specialist team. Chris will also look at some recent cases he has assessed, where previous dental intervention has lead to complications that the Complete Examination process may have helped to avoid. Given that our treatment options are limited to these four choices complex comprehensive cases can require the close co-operation of a multidisciplinary team. But what happens when you are in a practice where the nearest specialist is at least a two hour round trip and the patients do not want to travel? Dr. Neil Harris talks through the training he has undertaken which now allows him, as a general dentist, to provide fixed orthodontics, dental implants and comprehensive restorative treatment for his patients at his practice in the Cotswolds.

The IAS pathway allows the relatively inexperienced practitioner a structured training approach with excellent on going support and opportunities to advance their skill set. Salman has treated numerous anterior cosmetic cases using Inman and Clear Aligners since completing the hand-on training course. With the help of the excellent online mentor support he has progressed to treat more challenging cases with excellent results. He will be sharing his experiences with the IAS training pathway and talking through some of his cases with particular emphasis on: 14:15 PM - 14:55 PM TIF QURESHI THE LIFETIME PATIENT - AVOIDING THE FULL MOUTH USING TECHNOLOGY AND SIMPLE INTERCEPTIVE DENTISTRY. This lecture will look at how we can use digital technology to start to monitor, communicate and intercept dental problems that may appear through life. So much dentistry is carried out way too late- by that time too much damage is done for many patients to be able to afford the best solutions. Arguably no patient should ever need a full mouth rehab if enough dentists had the confidence to treat patients sooner. Tif will cover some of the diagnostic processes you can use to identify the collapse of the dentition, how to communicate these with your patients and how to treat these at an early stage simply, affordably and non invasively. This is also connected to tooth position and he will show how a good orthodontic and occlusal scheme go hand in hand- so correctly planned orthodontic set ups are essential for functional success.he will look at cases treated over 25 years and the approach he has taken that can be applied to any practice which focuses on prevention of wear and maintenance of function.
