My particular interests are in sinus surgery and computer-guided surgery. I provide mentoring in clinical patient treatment for many general practice colleagues who regularly call upon us for patient management and treatment planning advice. I am regularly asked to speak at study clubs for ITI, ADI and other independent groups in addition to the conference presentations listed above. I organise regional study clubs for local GDP s and DCP s to provide quality education and CPD. This has been on-going for over five years; these are well established and regularly over-subscribed. Regulatory body, legal and ethical experience I am regularly called upon to provide expert witness opinion on cases involving personal injury or negligence. I am an expert witness to the GDC and give evidence in Fitness to Practice cases. I am a former member of the clinical advisory board of Boots Dentalcare, setting clinical policy and guidelines for the clinicians working for this former large corporate body. Scientific development experience I was involved in the development of a computer navigated neurosurgery system into a successful computerised treatment planning software package (codiagnostix) and the further development the system to integrate CBCT imaging into the production of guided surgery templates. I then published the first 5-year longitudinal clinical study of implant placement using computer-guided surgery. I have been involved in scientific development panels for Straumann AG. I received a grant and ethical committee approval for running the first human controlled clinical trial in the world on titanium zirconium alloy as a dental implant material and ran this study as the lead investigator from our specialist multidisciplinary clinic.
