Most common adverse drug event More hypoglycemia events reported than all other harms combined Unrecognized as a harm by physicians and nurses Common side affect Cost of doing business No big deal All s well after some carbs/glucose Uncommon serious recognized event But serious morbidity and death does occur
8 Why Are We Here? 8 States 27 Hospitals > 700 Preventable ADE Hypoglycemia Harms! from 9/2018 to 10/2018
9 What is a Relay? A relay follows a sprint in methodology except peer advisors will assist in facilitating and providing support on the virtual events! The peer advisors chosen for the relay are hospitals that participated and were identified as high performers in a previous ADE Hypoglycemia Sprint.

25 State Partner Expectations Accept invites and participate in the 3 HRET HIIN ADE Hypoglycemia Relay virtual events Follow-up with hospitals to identify a lead for the relay and remind them of hospital expectations throughout the sprint. Track your registered hospitals using the sprint tracking tool. Schedule 1 coaching session with hospitals session of one-on-one coaching with hospitals utilizing the ADE Hypoglycemia Sprint Coaching Guide. Submit your hospital s process discovery tool and coaching guide to kbhat@aha.org
