2 Our Diabetes Educators Course is now approved by Commission of Dietetic Registration, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, US for 12 CPEU's (Formerly known as American Dietetic Association) Scope of the course: Panacea Health Education s Diabetes Educator Program is approved by Commission of Dietetic Registration as a continuing professional education program for 12 CPEUs and helps professionals gain an overall understanding of diabetes education and has valuable insights in the context of nutrition, physical activity reccomendations, insulin dosing, oral hypoglycemic agents, psychological management and educational strategies along with a practical case management approach. This course is not a direct entry for becoming a Certified Diabetes Educator as that is regulated by the NCBDE. However the certification is a valid continuing professional education program as per the regulating body and can be used for the preparation of the exam. 2

6 Classes and Assessment: For those who miss the classes or unable to clear assessments have a chance of completing the classes with the next batch alone by paying a defaulters fee. Beyond the following batch a student will require to re-register afresh. Assessments need to be completed within scheduled dates. Certification is valid for three years after which students need to enroll for update classes and examination. For successful completion of the course there are mandatory steps for a student to go through: Theory Classes:- Type of Classes: Online Live Sessions (Faculty and students can have interaction over VOIP, Classes are taken using Webex application) Care is taken that faculty and students are trained on using the software. Course Work: Material is provided to the attendees. Material is specially designed for the course by the team. Adult Learning Methods: Attendees are provided various adult learning options apart from the lectures such as journal discussions, seminars by students, case scenarios and practical internship, assignments based on recent findings which aid in exploring the speciality and enhancing future practitioners to focus on evidence based medicine. Number of CPEUs: 12 CPEUs Module 1: Insulin Resistance and Metabolic syndrome- 1 hour Module 2: Diabetes and Nutritional Management- 1 hour Functional Foods- 30 mins Diabetes and Exercise- 30 mins Module 3: Women and Diabetes- 1.5 hours Module 4: Insulin and OHAs- 1.5 hours 6

7 Advanced Carbohydrate counting- 1 hour Module 5: Acute complications- 1 hour Chronic Complication- 1 hour Module 6: Diabetes Education Methods- 1 hour International Guidelines to Diabetes Management- 2 hours It is mandatory that the student should attend a minimum of 80% of the classes Assessment Techniques: Online Quiz Please note: On Completion of this course we will certify you will receive a certificate of training in Diabetes Education by Panacea Health Education approved by Commisison of Dietetic Registration, US (Formerly known as American Dietetic Association) 7

8 Optional Interning with a Diabetes Educator: There are few ways of completing the internship which is an integral part of the course The purpose of the internship for 15 hours is to orient with SMBG, Insulin injection, insulin pumps and Patient Education. We can provide with a letter requesting for an internship to support the course, however we don t cover the cost of the internship. This section is optional and can be used by candidates keen on enhancing their practical skills. 8

On Acceptance, you will receive an enrollment number with course schedule. And on rejection, your fees will be will be completely refunded to you.
