Please refer to the key below when using the charts. Hidden Opportunities Those that are high on derived but low on stated importance are the hidden opportunities which could potentially have a large effect of overall satisfaction Those with low importance on both measures (stated and derived importance) can be seen as least important for driving action as they only have a small impact on overall satisfaction Lower Opportunities Stated importance (low to high) Key Drivers There is likely be overlap between stated and derived importance factors these are the ones which should be prioritised - as they will potentially have the greatest impact on overall satisfaction Those that are high on stated importance and low on derived importance are the hygiene factors those which must be maintained, but will not necessarily impact on overall satisfaction Minimum Requirements 1. 17 From the mouths of participants A selection of open response comments: Too much focus on results and not on having fun, which reflects modern society (Male participant, age 27) 17 think there needs to be more encouragement to women, and more women only areas in gyms. Currently is very 'testosterony' (Female participant, age 38) Quality of equipment is key I believe for weightlifting and ensuring simple things such as having lifting platforms and bumper plates available would encourage more people to try (Male club member, age 33) More competitions would be nice. Also the governing body needs to promote weightlifting more by going into schools, Colleges and Universities (Male club member, age 33) BWL newsletter, social media and dartfish TV has increased my contact with the sport (Female participant, age 46) It would be nice if there were more places where females could lift. There are gyms that have platforms, but don't have female bars (Female club member, age 26)
18 Do you need more? 18 A full set of detailed data (including verbatim responses) is available in Excel format via your Sport England Relationship Manager Full methodological information can be found on the research section of the Sport England website In total 606 people (aged 16 and over) from Weightlifting took part in the survey between February and May 2012; 517 general participants, 68 affiliated club members and 21 talent pool members. All satisfaction and importance scores exclude people who have said don t know for the specific question Creating sporting opportunities in every community
