1 As we make our way into completing an Activity Analysis there are a number of free and powerful tools you can use of to enhance the quality of your data. Listed below are free apps you can use to enhance/help you with recording information for your training diary, examples of training session and recording data while completing a sport analysis. Time Motion TimeMotion takes the hassle out of time-motion studies. For sport science or coaching students, doing a time-motion study can be a real chore. TimeMotion allows you to record the activity profile of any sportsperson live during the event, or now you can analyse an existing video stored in your photo library. Use the activity categories that ship with the app or choose your own. You can even turn categories on and off as and when you need to. To save the data just take a screenshot (press the Home and Sleep buttons at the same time), or the results via the Share button. Coaches can even use TimeMotion to track the time in possession of the ball and the frequency of possessions for their team or individual players.

3 Dartfish EasyTag With EasyTag, notational analysis comes to the iphone. Start the timer at the beginning of the game then a fully customizable tagging panel is used to time-stamp the key performance indicators (KPI) of your sport and display instant statistics of their frequencies. EasyTag creates a.csv file which can be further analyzed by spreadsheet software or tagged events can be related to a video recording by import into Dartfish video analysis software (TeamPro and Connect+ editions). EasyTag s panel can contain from 9 to 30 buttons each of which can be set to time stamp a fixed, user-defined duration which allows a single button tap to record an event. Buttons can also be set to be open duration which is ideal for recording the length as well as frequency of phases of play. Buttons can be labeled and color-coded. Optionally, buttons can also display frequencies and have variable color-coding according to frequency; giving instant visual feedback on your KPI. EasyTag works as a standalone app but is also designed to integrate with Dartfish Tagging. On the video simply find the moment where you started the timer, click Quick Import, select the game file then your tagged events will match the corresponding moment on the video. Now you can use Dartfish to edit the events, then analyze and share them with your team. IMPORTANT: EasyTag tagging panels have different features and functionality to those of Dartfish and it is not possible to export Dartfish Panels to EasyTag or vice versa. However EasyTag complements Dartfish Tagging and is a great way of extending notational and video analysis to coaches on the edge of the playing area: With a quick tap the coach gains the power to pick out events for later review and the task of tagging can be contributed to and shared by the entire coaching team.

5 RunKeeper RunKeeper uses the GPS technology found in the iphone to track your fitness activity, giving you comparable results to an expensive GPS watch. Now, you can also enter your activities manually, including your treadmill runs too! The intuitive and easy-to-use interface of the app makes it easy to track how far you went, how long it took, what your pace/speed was, how many calories you burned, and the path you traveled on a map. Once your activity is completed, the data is synced to the RunKeeper website ( where you can view a history of all of your activities, and cumulative totals of all of your vital stats. You can also share your progress with friends by posting your activities to Facebook and Twitter, and creating a profile page that allows people to view all of your public activities. You can get insight in your ear while you are doing your activities on whether you are ahead/behind your target pace, or get coached through an interval workout. 12 Pocket Pace PocketPace is a simple application of interest to track and field enthusiasts, including coaches, athletes, and fans. The program allows users to pick from a list of standard track and field events and identify a final target time. The program calculates and displays a list of intermediate times, or splits, based on the appropriate pace to finish the event in the target time. Users may also determine the intermediate distances (such as 400 meters) for which splits will be listed.

13 Running Log Free Record your workouts and rest days with RUNNING LOG, and see your history and trends on the visual calendar and summary. To log a run, touch any calendar day. Then record: * distance (km/mi) * duration * effort level * type of run (cross country, intervals, race, etc. - choose from 15!) * route name * group runs * rest days * freeform notes Associated icons appear on the calendar to give you a clear picture of your workout trends. View weekly or monthly totals below the calendar. A summary screen provides statistics for the current month and grand total, including distance, duration and pace totals and averages.
