Introduction The application "MyRunningApp" allows you to monitor your fitness activities (walk, run or ride a bike) using the GPS of your Android mobile/tablet. It's easy to use for both experienced users and for those who begin fitness activity. The application monitors your performances even with the help of the voice coach customizing several types of notifications: viewing the route on the map, distance traveled, time spent, calories burned, average speed and current speed, steps and steps/min (if the step detector sensor is available 6

in your device), average pace and current pace, altitude, current, average and interval average cadence (if the cadence sensor is available), current, average and average interval heart rate, current, average and interval average percentages of HR MAX, thanks to the connection to a heart rate monitor. Enabling indoor mode you can use the application without GPS, for example in gym. Moreover, offline maps can be integrated, useful in case of absence of an Internet network. If you are an experienced user you can define your single workout sessions or combine them in training plans, if you are at the beginning you can import generic training plans already set. The performance can also be analyzed in different ways even through charts. 3. Getting started When the "MyRunningApp" application is selected on your mobile/tablet, the text "cookies and privacy" is shown when you first start it. Then appears the following Home screen that allows you to start workout, after choosing an activity, walking, running, cycling, hand bicycle or other: In the upper left there are two icons, the first allows you to choose the map type: standard, 7

satellite, satellite with roads and terrain, the other one allows you to enable/disable indoor mode: Regarding the optional workout you can choose between "single sessions" and "training plans" previously defined using the top left menu, selecting "Workouts". After selecting a workout session or a training plan, the info icon displays the workout details. 8

Now, if you have selected initial countdown in the settings, tapping on start will trigger the countdown and the fitness activity will start. You have three options: you can add one or more minutes that could be used to make any initial warm up before the workout. Otherwise, if you don't select initial countdown, the fitness activity will start immediately when you tap on start. From the top left menu you can select: Home: returns to the home screen Workouts: adds a "single session" or a "training plan", or imports default training plans Goals: allows you to set the workout goals History: shows the list and the details of the performed workout sessions Executed training plans: shows the performed training plans Statistics: can be weekly, monthly, yearly and your records Gears: allows you to monitor the utilization of gears used during workout Tracks: allows you to import tracks in gpx format Offline Maps: allows the use of previously downloaded maps in absence of internet 9

In app purchase: allows you to remove ads. 4. Workouts In this section you can configure workout sessions and training plans or import default training plans. You can also copy a saved workout session or training plan using the appropriate icon at the top right. Moreover, trough a "drag and drop" you can select a workout interval (in the case of a single session) or a workout period (in the case of a training plan) and move it to another position, and through a "swipe" scroll the interval or period to delete it. It is also possible to duplicate a workout interval when defining a session. Tapping on "add workout session", you can configure workout sessions; in particular you can add the workout interval, choosing pace, type and length (in kilometers or miles depending on the unity of measure chosen in the settings). It s also possible select continue workout until manually stopped to continue the activity even after the end of the workout session. For the pace, you can choose: fast walk, slow run, regular run, fast run, target pace, target heart 10

rate zone (you need a connected heart rate monitor), target record; for the type, you can choose: distance, time, automatic lap, manual lap. Slow run is a run made approximately 72"/mi more than your anaerobic threshold. Depending on your fitness level, it can be done on distances ranging from 6 to 12 mi. You should be able to talk without much difficulty for most of the route. Regular run is approximately 16"/mi slower than your anaerobic threshold. The distance can be between 4 and 7 mi. Speak after the first miles should be more difficult. Fast run is a run made in a few seconds less than your anaerobic threshold. Depending on your fitness level, it can be done on distances ranging between 2 and 4 mi. After one mile, speak should be difficult. In workout session you can alternate slow run and fast run (fartlek); an example of fartlek is run for 4-7 mi, running one fast and one slow. It's a useful workout to accustom your muscles to work in the presence of lactic acid and to lower the anaerobic threshold. Furthermore, the application also allows you to set the interval training, which is like the fartlek, but on shorter distances and with clearer changes of pace. A distance of 2-4 mi running one minute fast and two minutes slow is a good session of interval training. 11

If you select target record, then you can choose the record to challenge, for example: The description of automatic and manual laps is postponed to the next paragraph. Tapping on "add training plan", you can configure training plans. The training plan is configured setting workout periods. For each workout period you can define the duration (number of weeks) and the number of workout sessions for week, and finally you can select a workout session for each day. 12

Tapping on "import training plans" you can import default training plans (not editable): Run from 0 to 30 minutes: this training plan is suitable for beginners and allows you to run for 30 minutes without interruptions after 8 weeks; the training plan requires 3 workouts for week; Run from 30 to 60 minutes: this training plan allows you to run for 1 hour after 6 weeks, supposed you have already completed run from 0 to 30 minutes or you are able to run for 30 minutes without interruptions; From 0 to 5K: this training program allows you to run for 5 km (about 3.1 miles) in 30 minutes after 10 weeks; the training plan requires 3 workouts for week. Starting from the fourth week the voice coach will suggest you the pace to keep; From 5 to 10K: this training plan allows you to run 10K (about 6.2 miles) in 6 weeks, supposed you have already completed from 0 to 5K. After choosing the training plan and selecting import, it appears in the "training plans" section, and selecting it you can see the workout's details day to day. When you start an activity, after choosing a workout session or a training plan, the application monitors your performance (time, distance, calories, average speed, current speed, average pace, current pace, steps, steps/min, clock, altitude and current, average and average interval 13

heart rate, thanks to the connection to a heart rate monitor) and views the route on the map. As the following image shows, during the route is displayed a marker in the starting position and one in the current position; you can also interact with the map that can also be larger (only on a smartphone, not on a tablet); to go back and disable this mode you can use the back button of your device or click the "mylocation" button in the upper right. The next page shows the current interval, with the distance or time remaining to end the workout interval, and the next interval of the current workout session. If you are using a tablet, these above informations are shown in a single screen. Moreover, if in interval pace you have choosen target pace or target heart rate zone or target record (average pace), in the current interval are shown in green or in red if the workout options have been met, as shown in the following images: 14

For time intervals the last remaining 30 seconds are highlighted in yellow and is announced the countdown for the last 5 seconds. For distance interval the calculation of the remaining 30 seconds is based on the interval average speed and the remaining distance is highlighted in yellow if the estimated time to complete it is lesser than 30 seconds. 5. Automatic lap and manual lap When you create a workout session, in interval type there are also automatic lap and manual lap. Tapping on automatic lap, then you have to enter the lap length and the number of laps. In manual lap mode, GPS will not be used and you will indicate "manually" the end of the lap you are doing, and the beginning of the new lap; this is done through the use of end lap software button, or using the multimedia keys usually on the headset. You can enter the lap lenght, if you know it, and the number of laps. If the number of laps is indeterminate, you must set 0; in this case it is not possible to define other workout intervals because the laps end is not fixed. 15

When you start an automatic lap, the application monitors your performance (time, distance, calories, average speed, current speed, average pace, current pace and current heart rate) and shows the route on the map, and in the next page shows the current interval, with the distance or time remaining to end the workout interval, the average pace and average speed lap by lap, and the next interval of the current workout session; if in interval pace you have choosen target pace or target heart rate zone, in the current interval are shown in green or in red if the workout options have been met, as shown in the following images: 16

If you start a manual lap, the application monitors the indoor parameters, because the GPS is not used: At the end of the manual lap activity, you will see the "activity details" screen where you can insert and/or modify some parameters and insert note in field how did it go?, before you save your workout details. For workout with heart rate monitor the value of burned calories is calculated on the basis of the heart rate, instead if you know the distance or time the burned calories are estimated; in both cases the value is editable. In the workout analysis you can view the time of each lap and the sum of lap time with the previous one: 17

6. Goals In this section you can create, through the bottom right button, and track the workout goals based on the number of workouts, the distance, the time, the steps and the calories. To create a goal you need to enter these information: 18

The activity can be: any, walking, running, cycling or other. The typology can be: number of workouts, distance, time, steps and calories. The schedule can be: custom, weekly or monthly; in the case of custom schedule, you must enter both the start date and the end date. The target is the number of times you want to work out if in the typology has been chosen the number of workouts; otherwise if you have chosen the distance, you must enter the distance you want to go, or if you have chosen the time, you must enter for how long you want to work out; or if you have chosen steps, you must enter the number of steps you intend to do; or choosing calories, how many calories you intend to burn. Start goal, you can display the percentage of progress; also at the end of each workout you will receive notification about the progress of your goal, even vocal if voice coach is enabled. Tapping on the image of the percentage of progress, you can display the details: 19

7. Indoor mode Enabling indoor mode you can use the application without GPS, for example in gym while you are running on a treadmill or you are doing another indoor activity, and if you are using a heart rate monitor you obtain a more reliable calculation of the burned calories. Also with a connected heart rate monitor, you can monitor heart rate zone workouts using any gym equipment. During an indoor workout session, the voice coach and the application's screen will indicate you the speed to set on the equipment display to meet workout's target pace. At the end of indoor mode activity, you will see the "activity details" screen where you can insert and/or modify some parameters and insert note in field how did it go?, before you save your workout details. If you know the distance or time the burned calories are estimated. The value is always editable. 8. History This section shows the list of performed activities and a monthly summary including the number of activities, the total distance traveled, the total time spent and the total calories burned. Also you can do a workouts search entering start date and/or end date and/or activity. 20

Selected a performed workout sessions, the application shows the details: route on the map with distance indication (when expected), distance, time, steps (if your device is enabled for detection), calories, max speed, average speed, average pace, average heart rate and max heart rate, altitude (if it s relevant), gears and how did it go? (route on the map and max speed aren t present in the case of manual lap); it's also possible to remove warm up and cool down from overall stats: 21

In the top right there are these possibilities: - choose the map type (standard, satellite, satellite with roads and terrain) - edit - enable map interaction - export as TCX - export as GPX - import as track - delete the workout Enabling the map interaction, you can display the full screen map, pan and zoom in/out. You can export workout details as TCX or GPX format and share them using your device applications. Regarding indoor mode workouts, it's not possible to export as GPX, while as TCX the exported data can not be accepted by some sites. Tapping on analyze the workout is analyzed graphically. There are various types of charts where are displayed different parameters as steps, pace, speed, altitude, heart rate, HR zones, cadence, distance, duration, one in function of the other; also you can move on the chart and zoom in/out: 22

The HR zones workout analysis is so diplayed: If no workout session was selected, the application makes a workout distance analysis or workout time analysis, choosing the distance or time split that you prefer: 23

If you are analyzing a workout session, the application analyzes the workout intervals, and the heading is green if all the parameters are correct, is red if some parameters are not correct or if the workout interval has not been done: If the workout intervals are laps, the application analyzes them lap by lap; for manual lap with heart rate monitor, the workout is analyzed graphically and are displayed heart rate and HR zones: 24

Also in the upper right you can compare graph and the comparison is made on the graph as a function of time or heart rate: The graph to compare is selected from the list in "Diary", then you need to click on "select to compare" to display the graphs of the two workouts; finally tapping on "cancel comparison" you can return to the initial workout analysis. Than you can share the informations of the workout session on Facebook, Twitter or using other applications, and finally you can send the performed workout session to Google Fit, Strava or Runalyze; it's possible remove warm up and cool down from overall stats during the sharing. You can add photos from camera and from gallery, or, if you take a photo during workout, they will appear in the section share. 25

For sharing on Strava and Runalyze first you must connect your account: Finally, selecting challenge you have the opportunity to improve your performance: on the basis of workout that you want to challenge, the application automatically defines the parameters of the 26

new workout session to be performed and the vocal coach and/or screen indications suggest the pace to follow to overcome the challenge. 9. Executed training plans This section shows the list of training plans performed and the details of workout sessions: Using the menu at the top right you can delete the plan and the associated sessions or delete only the training plan; so the executed workout sessions will be saved in the History. 10. Statistics After choosing the time frame in which we wish to have the statistics, weekly, monthly or yearly, we get these informations: 27

As regards records, the informations provided are: 28

11. Gears Tapping Gears on the top left menu you can enter, through the button on the bottom right, sport gears to use during your workouts and monitor the percentage of use. The gear details are: name, typology, notes, price, start usage, already traveled distance and max distance: Setting a max traveled distance for your gear, you will obtain the percentage of use and you will get a notification when it's almost reached or exceed, even vocal if voice coach is enabled. Saved the gear, you can view the percentage of use and a brief summary showing the typology, the price and the cost for unity of distance (mi/km), while tapping on you will obtain these details: 29

Note that now you can enter an end use date of the gear, see the updated traveled distance and, if you want, update the field "notes". Tapping on "delete" you can permanently delete the gear. 12. Tracks Selecting Tracks in the menu will show a list of paths with the status indication, if active or inactive; at the bottom there is the + button that allows you to add new paths: 30

The tracks can be added by uploading a gpx file (previously downloaded from specific websites outside the application), or taking it from a previously performed activity (go to the diary, choose a workout and from the top right menu select "export as gpx ). Once you have selected the path of interest, clicking will see the details with the path centered on the map, you can activate it, delete it or change its name: When a track is active, the current map shows the route that is being taken compared to the track imported. 13. Offline maps The Offline Maps menu on the left allows you to use a map in absence of an internet connection. Selecting this item will bring up a list of maps showing the status, whether active or not, and the + button at the bottom right to add a new map: 31

The maps must be downloaded outside the application, from specific websites, and all vector maps in mapsforge format are supported (.map extension). Below are some websites (unrelated to MyRunningApp) from which you can download offline maps: Once you have selected the interest map, will be shown the name, which can be changed, the style if set (even the styles can be downloaded from specific websites) and you can activate or deactivate it. 32

When an offline map is active, it replaces Google map in both the activity and diary screen and in the path preview. It is specified that to go from online to offline map and vice versa, it is necessary to exit and return from the application. 14. In app purchase Tapping In app purchase on the top left menu you can decide, through a small annual subscription, to remove ads when using the application. The process is the one used by Google Play. 33

15. Settings In the top right of the Home application, you can define the settings: Unity of measure for distance and weight Personal details (name, gender, date of birth, weight, kcal correction, distance correction, your user profile photo) Sensors (step counter, step detector) GPS Wearables Activity preferences (voice coach, heart rate zones, activity parameters, indoor activity parameters, keep screen on, share activity at the end, show activity at the end, pause/stop confirmation, initial countdown, night mode, indoor mode, auto pause, enable media keys, track your steps, profiles settings, music player) Partner Accounts (Google Fit, Strava, Runalyze) Backup and Restore Information 34

35

Setting gender, date of birth and weight is essential for calculating the burned calories. The kcal correction field allows you to increase or decrease the calories consumed calculated by the application, as shown in the following image: 36

The distance correction field allows you to change the distance calculated by the application that depends on the positions sent by the GPS of your device. The accuracy of the GPS depends on the device and the calculation of the distance can be overestimated compared to reality. Therefore, even if we use a calculation algorithm that contains more cases, it can happen that the distance measured by MyRunningApp is superior to reality and therefore this field allows to correct it. Sensors: it s reported whether step counter or step detector sensors are available on your mobile device. The latter detects steps quicker but may produce more detection errors than step counter, so it s preferable to use the step counter; you can still decide to prefer the step detector by selecting the appropriate field. This feature is active after selecting track your steps in the activity preferences. So your steps will be tracked for run and walk activities, for other activities you need to create a custom profile settings. As already mentioned, step detection accuracy depends on your device s sensor. GPS: in this section you can modify two parameters to reduce the send frequency of the GPS positions with which the application calculates the distance traveled. This allows you to reduce the battery consumption of your device, but you may obtain a less accuracy in the distance calculation. 37

The default values are time of 1 second and distance of 5 meters, so the GPS sends positions if at least 5 meters have been traveled and if at least 1 second has elapsed; you can reduce the frequency by increasing the distance traveled and the time elapsed, or you can restore the default values: By setting a high time for sending positions, for example 10 seconds, if you stop you will have to wait for the next position before the application detects that the activity is paused and the current speed is zero; this is because the application detects that you have stopped if it does not receive positions for 8 seconds, but by setting 10 seconds the time automatically lengthens. If you are using at the same time another application that uses the GPS of the phone, such as Google Maps to display the map, the frequency of sending positions will not depend on the parameters described above, but is the one provided by Google. Wearables: allows you to enable communication with your Wear OS watch. Please refer to the explanation on the page 54. The voice coach settings are: 38

In Text-to-speech output, the follow screen appears: 39

You can check the text-to-speech status, choose to install the voice data required for speech synthesis and listen to an example too. We recommend enabling only one between distance based notify and time based notify to avoid an excessive overlap of informations provided by the vocal trainer. In notify based on distance, it s possible to customize the value to enter in the field "customized notify distance"; this value can t be less than 0.2 km. Please note that the voice coach will prioritize the vocal announces regarding the workout session in progress, than the periodic time and/or distance based notifications. If you choose fast walk or slow run or regular run or fast run, the voice coach will announce the distance remaining to end the workout interval if you have selected "distance" in "interval type", while it will announce the time remaining to end the workout interval if you have selected "time". If you select "target pace" as pace, the voice coach announces if the pace is ok, lower the target, or slow, greater the target; if you select "target heart rate zone," the voice coach announces if the heart rate zone is ok, too low or too high, compared to the heart rate zones chosen as target; if you select "target record", the voice coach announces the time remaining or distance or calories to burn in order to break the record, or it announces if the pace is better than record or is too low to break the 40

record and therefore it indicates how much to increase it. Regarding warm up and cool down, you can choose whether or not to receive the pace and speed notification at the end of warm up/cool down. The heart rate zones are: It's possible to change the values of the heart rate zones according to own physical characteristics or reset them according to average values for own age. The voice coach will announce in which heart zone you are and if your heart rate is too high for health, if it exceeds the red line value * 10/9. In Activity parameters you have the ability to customize the displayable parameters during outdoor activities, choosing the number of rows (1, 2 or 3) and the number of fields for first row (1 or 2). Each field will contain the parameter you prefer by selecting it from the list. 41

For indoor activity parameters you can choose the number of rows (2 or 3) for the vertical display and the number of rows (1 or 2) for the horizontal display: 42

Each field will contain the parameter you prefer by selecting it from the list: Selecting share activity at the end the sharing screen appears, while selecting show activity at the end the workout detail appears when you end your activity. These two settings are alternative to each other. Enabling indoor mode you can use the application without GPS, for example in gym. When you are using the indoor mode, the Home screen shows indoor activity : Tapping on auto pause the activity will be automatically paused when you are not moving based on GPS information. Enable media keys: if you select this setting, the multimedia keys such as the ones on your headset (for example play/pause, stop, next, previous, rewind, fastforward) in manual lap mode allow you to end lap, elsewhere to pause and resume the activity. Note that Android allows only to one app at a time to handle multimedia keys based on which one requested the activation the last time; so if you use the keys to control your music app, then they will be not available in MyRunningApp and vice versa. 43

In profiles settings you can create profiles for activity type (any, walking, running, cycling, hand bicycle, other) and mode (indoor or outdoor); you can also select other settings such as "keep screen on, night mode, track your steps, gears and extra weight" and choose the voice coach notify (based on distance, based on time and customized) and announcements; the extra weight value is used to calculate the calories consumed. Please note that you can only create one profile for activity and mode, such as a walking/indoor profile, another walking/outdoor, another run/indoor or run/outdoor, and so on; you note that a profile with activity "any" obviously encompasses the other activity types, so if you create any/indoor profile you can not create another profile with other activity and indoor mode. Music player: through this setting you have the possibility to choose a music player installed on your device; by default automatic choice is preferred. Regarding Google Fit you have to enable connection, then you can choose the automatic send or you can manually send your activities from the share section. Strava: this setting allows the connection of your Strava account and authorizes MyRunningApp to 44

upload your workout. Runalyze: this setting allows the connection of your Runalyze account and authorizes MyRunningApp to upload your workout. Backup and Restore: Backup your database allows you to store all your workouts and training plans; you can: - backup now - backup your database automatically after each workout - share your database backup To restore the database proceed as follows: from your device internal storage open the folders MyRunningApp backup - db and copy the file rungpstracker.db (or, if the backup is shared, copy the file where was preserved); always from your device internal storage open the folders Android data it.nimarsolutions.rungpstracker files db and replace the file rungpstracker.db content with the previously copied. 45

During this operation the application must be closed clicking "Stop" from the device settings menu. To restore your preferences proceed as follows: from your device internal storage open the folders MyRunningApp backup - prefs and copy the file prefs.json (or, if the backup is shared, copy the file where was preserved); always from your device internal storage open the folders MyRunningApp restore prefs and replace the file prefs.json content with the previously copied. Also during this operation the application must be closed clicking "Stop" from the device settings menu. By performing both the database backup and the preferences restore, you get the application as it was. Google Drive To Backup on Google Drive you first need to connect your gmail account to Google Drive. By selecting "Backup" the backup is saved on Google Drive in a special hidden folder. The "Restore" item allows you to select the backups to restore relative to both the settings and the database (clearly it is not possible to choose more than one backup for settings and databases to restore). If you are restoring data on another device, you will need to wait a few more minutes. 16. Share In the top right of the Home application also you can select "share" that allows you to send this message using any application of your mobile: 17. Music player Tapping on you start the music player for listening to music during the workout; the volume is 46

automatically lowered when the vocal trainer announces an information. 18. Heart rate monitor Tapping on you can connect your mobile to a compliant Bluetooth Smart or ANT+ heart rate monitor that measure the actual heart rate; the heart icon will turn red when your mobile is connected to an heart rate monitor: If Bluetooth is not active, a message appears to remind you to activate it. Regarding the Bluetooth Smart, first there is the search for bluetooth heart rate monitors, then you must choose your heart rate monitor to connect it, so the heart rate monitor will show the actual heart rate: 47

It s possible, by selecting "connect automatically", to connect your favorite heart rate monitor when the application is started (just wait a few seconds); to do this it is necessary that the Bluetooth of your device is previously active. Regarding the ANT+, first there is the search for ANT+ heart rate monitors, and then one proceeds as in the previous case: 48

By selecting "connect automatically", you will connect your favorite heart rate monitor when the application is started (just wait a few seconds) If your mobile device does not have built-in support to technology ANT+, you need an external adapter generally connected to the micro USB device; in this case, when you search for the heart rate monitor, you may need to install additional dependencies from the Play Store: At this point, depending on which adapter is used, you must manually install the appropriate driver from the Play Store; the most common is the ANT USB Service: 49

The use of a heart rate monitor, together with the set of sex, date of birth and weight, allows to obtain a more reliable calculation of the calories burned. The support to the heart rate monitor is available for Android 4.3 or higher. 19. Cadence sensor You can connect your mobile to a compliant Bluetooth Smart or ANT+ cadence sensor in the cadence sensor menu in the upper right corner. For Bluetooth the application supports the cadences with the CSC (Cycling Speed and Cadence) profile. If Bluetooth is not active, a message appears to remind you to activate it. Regarding the Bluetooth Smart, first there is the search for bluetooth cadence sensors, then you must choose your sensor to connect it, so the cadence sensor will show the actual cadence. 50

It s possible, by selecting "connect automatically", to connect your favorite cadence sensor when the application is started (just wait a few seconds); to do this it is necessary that the Bluetooth of your device is previously active. Regarding the ANT+, first there is the search for ANT+ cadence senors, and then one proceeds as in the previous case: 51

By selecting "connect automatically", you will connect your favorite cadence sensor when the application is started (just wait a few seconds) If your mobile device does not have built-in support to technology ANT+, you need an external adapter and you may need to install additional dependencies from the Play Store. 20. Problems related to battery optimization settings In some smartphone models, some operating system settings may close the application when the screen is locked/shut down to reduce power consumption. When this happens, the following message appears: It s necessary to verify that these energy saving settings are not selected, allowing MyRunningApp to remain active even when the screen is locked. The procedure changes according to the model of the device and we recommend consulting the faq 52

at the website An alternative is to go to the MyRunningApp "settings" and in "activity preferences" select "keep screen on", but this will cause more battery consumption. The workout session carried out until the stop of the app will not be lost but will be restored the next time the app is started (if no more than 2 minutes have elapsed since the interruption); in the case in which less than 100 meters have been traveled or if the duration of the activity is less than 1 minute, the session will be canceled. 53

21. MyRunningApp for Wear OS User guide MyRunningApp for Wear OS ver

1. Getting started First of all MyRunningApp must be installed from the Play Store on your watch while the Wear OS application on your smartphone id=com.google.android.wearable.app After starting MyRunningApp, go to the settings menu at the top right and scroll to the Wearables entry and select Wear OS. The following screen will appear allowing you to enable connection and communication with your Wear OS watch (remember to turn on Bluetooth): Voice coach on this device allows to redirect the voice coach from the watch to the handheld device; on some Wear OS watch models the voice coach works only if they are connected to internet, so when the watch is offline or for watches without speaker it is advisable to enable this voice so that you can listen to the voice coach from your smartphone. Furthermore MyRunningApp s settings are automatically synchronized with the watch. 2. How Wear OS watch works Start MyRunningApp among the applications of the watch and the initial screen that allows you to start the activity will be shown: 55

Scrolling from the bottom to the top appears the action drawer activity, workout and heart rate monitor, while scrolling from top to the bottom opens the menu that allows you to return to the Home or switch to the next screen History: The first item allows you to choose the type of activity between walking, running, cycling, hand bycycle or other, the second shows the workout s name set on the phone, the third allows you to enable the use of the heart rate monitor during the activity. History shows the list of performed activities with the icon indicating the type, a check mark indicates that the activity has been sent but not yet received by the telephone, while the double checkmark indicates that has been received by the phone; selecting an activity you can see the details and, through the action drawer, you can send it to the phone or delete it: 56

The activities sent and older than 1 month are deleted from the watch and stored only on the smartphone. If you are doing a training plan, it is recommended to send the sessions done on the phone in order to start again with the next workout provided by the plan, because if the watch activities aren t synchronized with the phone you will repeat the same session. When an activity starts, the monitored parameters are shown; it s possible to view six parameters using the bottom arrow. They can be customized, in fact, by pressed the field of interest, the list of parameters to choose from appears: Scrolling from the bottom to the top shows the menu with parameters (to return to the monitored paramaters), pause and stop (to pause or stop the activity): 57

If the workout includes intervals from the second screen of the parameters the following menu is shown with interval details, pause and stop: Selecting interval details you go to the screen of the current interval s details where you see the name of the interval, the pace and time/distance that is remaining to end it or, if the interval includes a goal (for example pace or heart rate zone), the difference respect to the predetermined goal is highlighted in red or green according to whether it is respected or not; the bottom arrow allows you to return to the parameters: Regarding to the heart rate monitor, you can use the integrated heart rate monitor in your watch, if it is equipped, or connect a Bluetooth Smart heart rate monitor: 58

In this case first there is the search for Bluetooth heart rate monitors, then you must choose your heart rate monitor to connect it, so the heart rate monitor will show the actual heart rate: 3. Always-on screen and Battery Saver In your watch s settings you can enable the Always-on screen; in this way the screen of the parameters monitored during the activity and others will always be visible because the always on mode of the watch is activated. Instead, always in the watch settings, it is recommended to not activate the Battery Saver because it could cause abnormal stop of the application. 4. Watch system requirements Android 7.1 (Nougat++) or higher Android Wear 2.0 or higher or Wear OS 59
