Present ll lessons with the trinees' bcks to the sun. Ensure trinees hydrte on breks. Before the lesson, review wiver limittions nd if trinees re restricted from performnce, llow them to observe the lesson. Ground stchels nd cnteens nd stck triner wepons. Brief trinees tht they will be evluted on individul drill with progress check (PC), which they must successfully complete in order to grdute from BMT. Appliction of drill occurs throughout the course. Core vlues re woven throughout the course. Het Stress Disorder Prevention nd Work/Rest Cycles: This ctivity is rted s n Esy Worklod. Monitor closely nd dhere to Work/Rest Cycles written on 737 TRG VA 8-1 nd 8-2. During Red/Blck Flg conditions, drill in covered re using Work/Rest Cycle. During Red Flg conditions, cncel Retret nd Prde. ORM Tg indictes possible point in the lesson to interject ORM nd my be used t nstructor s discretion. Opertionl Risk Mngement (ORM) Note: nstructors need to utilize the BMT ORM Dily Checklist prior to ech ctivity to determine risk rting for tht ctivity. Once you hve the risk rting, use the following guidnce to mitigte risks ssocited with tht ctivity. Remind trinees of pproprite nd sfe loctions they my prctice drill (e.g., not in dining fcilities, in ltrines or on slippery floors). n order to mitigte het relted injuries in BMT (during ll outside ctivities): AMDS provides hourly instlltion Wet Bulb Globe Temperture (WBGT) notices for current flg conditions. Notices re forwrded vi e-mil to ll 737 TRG personnel nd 37 TRW/CP. The 326 TRS conducts instlltion WBGT fter 1700 hours on weekdys nd ll dy on weekends. The BEAST site opertes remote WBGT reporting for tht site loction only. 2. Flgs re posted on ll Bsic Militry Trining (BMT) fcilities, drill/physicl Trining (PT) pds, Bsic Expeditionry Airmn Skills Trining (BEAST) sectors nd common use res on LAFB (e.g., Processing Center or Reception Center). 3. All Militry Trining nstructors (MTs) crry BMT Het Stress Prevention Crd outlining hydrtion nd work rest stndrds ctivities (worklod) for weeks of trining (cclimtized/uncclimtized). All mjor outdoor ctivities nd ssocited worklods re outlined in 737 TRG nstructions for: PT, BEAST, Obstcle Course, FEST, CBRNE, Prde nd Retret. 6. dentify trinees with pre-existing het or sickle-cell conditions nd mndte the wer of reflective wrist/rm bnd for those trinees during ll outside ctivities until the end of the 6 week of trining (WOT). 7. nstructors/stff dhere to strict control mesures/guidnce to limit effects of het stress. 8. BMT two glss rule require trinees to drink two glsses of wter, sports drink, milk or juice t ech mel. n order to mitigte risks ssocited with troop movements/mrching formtions (motor vehicle hzrds, slips or twisted nkle/knee nd movement during drkness): 1. All MTs re trined nd certified on control of mrching fight. 2. Mrching Units nd Pedestrin Opertionl Risk Mngement (ORM) - outlined in 737 TRG 36-3, Vol Flight rod gurds re trined nd supervised during ll intersection crossings TRG nstruction outlines individul/flight movement during periods of drkness. 5. Personl Protective Equipment includes reflective vest/wrist/rm bnds nd opertionl flshlight with florescent wnd. 6. Any trinee movement t night is ccomplished with wingmn. n order to mitigte injuries relted to MT Tools: 1. MT Tools/Exercise Chllenge is one set of three exercises (20 seconds for ech exercise for totl of 1 minute):. Push-ups b. Flutter Kicks c. Four Count Squt Thrusts 2. Ech exercise will not exceed 5 sets per dy (Totl of 5 minutes) 0-1 WOT 3. Ech exercise will not exceed 5 sets per dy (Totl of 10 minutes) 2-8 WOT. MTs signed-off in CJQS on the use of MT Tools 5. Strict dherence to Het Stress Prevention Mesures (see tht section for guidnce) PC nstructions: Complete the PC for this objective in ccordnce with the Weekly Activity Schedule (WAS) nd instructions in 737 TRG 36-3, Vol. 1. The PC cn be downloded from the BTMS dtbse under the curriculum link. Documenttion: The Flight nstructor ensures objective is completed nd documented in the BTMS dtbse. Motivtionl Trining (MT tools): The use of MT tools must be consistent with guidnce in 737 TRG 36-3, Vol. 1 nd serve legitimte trining purpose AW AETC PO NUMBER UNT 0 Oct

4 NDVDUAL GUDON BEARER PROCEDURES SUPPORT MATERALS AND GUDANCE (continued) Order Guidon The guidon berer holds the guidon in verticl position nd keeps the ferrule on the ground beside the right foot. The guidon berer holds the stff with the right hnd in the "V" formed by the thumb nd the fingers extended nd joined. The right hnd nd rm behind the stff with the rm bent nturlly nd the stff resting ginst the hollow of the shoulder. Crry Guidon The guidon berer grsps the stff with the left hnd while t the sme time loosening the grip of the right hnd on the stff. The guidon is rised verticlly with the left hnd, letting the stff slide upwrd through the right hnd until the ferrule is pproximtely 6 inches from the ground. The guidon berer then regrsps the stff with the right hnd nd cuts the left hnd wy smrtly to the left side. Execute Crry Guidon on ll preprtory commnds except Prde Rest, Flight Attention, Present Arms, Extend nd Close Mrch (Hlted), Count Off nd Close Rnks. Prde Rest Execute by sliding the hnd up the stff while inclining the stff of the guidon forwrd t rm's length with the hnd t wist level. Present Arms On the preprtory commnd, smrtly rise the guidon verticlly until the right rm is fully extended. At the sme time, bring the left hnd smrtly cross the chest to guide the stff. On the commnd of execution, the guidon berer lowers the guidon stright to the front with the right rm extended nd the stff resting in the pit of the rm, cutting the left hnd wy smrtly to the left side. Order Arms The guidon berer executes order guidon fter bringing the guidon to the crry position, the stff is permitted to slide through the right hnd. The stff is stedied with the left hnd until the guidon is in the position of order guidon nd the left hnd is then cut smrtly wy to the left side. ndividul Slute The guidon berer executes the slute with the left hnd in two-count movement. On first count, the left rm is moved horizontlly cross the body with forerm nd wrist stright nd fingers nd thumb extended nd joined with the plm down. The first joint of the forefinger touches the stff. On the second count, the left hnd is cut smrtly wy to the side. The slute t crry guidon is executed in the sme mnner except the ferrule is pproximtely 6 inches from the ground.
