4 Important Safety Warnings This icon means a potentially hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. Before using this equipment, obey the following warnings: Read and understand all Warnings on this machine. Specific Caution, Warning and/or Danger decals may be applied to call attention to specific hazards. Read and understand the prior to using this machine. If this machine is being used in a commercial setting, end users will not have access to this. It is the responsibility of the facility to instruct users on proper use of the equipment and to make them aware of potential hazards. Keep children away from this machine and/or supervise them closely if they are near the machine or present during its operation. Teenagers should be supervised in the use of the machine. Consult a physician prior to commencing an exercise program. If at any time you feel faint, dizzy, or experience pain, stop and consult your physician. Inspect this machine for loose parts or signs of wear. Pay special attention to cables, belts and their connections. Do not use if damage is found. Contact Nautilus customer service. Do not exceed the maximum user s Weight limit of 400 pounds (182 kilograms). Use caution, this machine contains moving parts. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Set up and operate selectorized strength equipment on a solid level surface. Do not use Weight Plates, dumbbells or other external means to increase the resistance of this machine. The machine should only be used in a supervised area. The machine shall only be used in areas where access and control of the equipment is regulated by trained staff. The degree of regulation depends on the user s ability to recognize and prevent danger to third parties throughout the exercise movement. Provide users with the necessary free area around the machine to assure safe operation (See product specifications for working area dimensions). Keep third parties out of this area when the machine is in use. Operate the machine in the manner described in this manual. Over exertion or failing to follow proper instructions may be hazardous to your health. Make sure that all positional adjustment devices are securely engaged. Do not leave the adjustment devices in a position that interferes with the movement of the user. 1

Back pad angle optimized to provide maximum muscle activation Correct, uncompromising strength curve for both adduction and abduction movements. Hip Adductors Hip Abductors Adduction Rotate thigh so that the horizontal pad is pointed away from the machine. Sit with your feet on the foot pegs so that your knees are bent at 90 degrees. Adjust the start position with range of motion adjust. Hold the handles and slowly move the pads in. Push with your knees. Hold the inward extreme position briefly. Slowly return to the start position. When you are finished, pull the lever to release the weight pads to exit the machine. Abduction Rotate the thigh pads so that the horizontal pad is pointed toward the machine. Sit down with feet on the foot pegs and knees bent at 90 degrees. Activate adjustment handle to place movement arms together. Hold the handles and slowly push the pads out with knees. Hold the inward extreme position briefly. Slowly return to the start position. 6 NOTE: The thigh pad will be facing inward for the Abduction exercise and the start and finish positions reverse for Hip Abduction exercise.

Sit and lower the seat until your navel aligns with the red axis indicator. Select the desired resistance by turning the main weight selection knob and add on weight lever. Place your legs behind the roller pads. Grasp the handles and rest your elbows on the elbow pads. Perform the crunch movement by pulling the elbow pads toward your knees while maintaining contact with the upper and lower back pads. Pause and slowly return to the start position. 7

Select the desired weight resistance by turning the main weight selection knob and add on weight lever. Sit with your chest up, shoulders back and grip the handles, keeping the elbows slightly bent. Grip the handles with palms up. Arms should be straight. Curl the handles up while keeping your elbows on the pad and aligned with the pivot point. Hold the handle briefly at the top of the exercise and slowly return the bar to the start position. 8

Stand up, grip the bar and then sit with thighs under pads. Pull the handles down as far as possible with a controlled motion. The rotating Smart Arm Technology allows starting and ending in either a pronated or supinated position. Extend the handles up to the stretched start position. TIP: Start with palms facing away (pronated) and end in supinated position while performing the exercise. 9

Sit on the seat and lower it until navel aligns with the red axis indicator. Select the desired weight resistance by turning the main weight selection knob and the ad on weight lever. Adjust the foot support so that the hamstring is slightly off the seat pad. Bend forward at the waist (not hips) until firm contact is established against both pads. Grip the handles and extend back as far as possible. Hold the position briefly and return the weight with controlled movement to starting position. 10

Lock the upper roller into place by pushing the handle. Select the desired weight resistance by turning the main weight selection knob and the add on weight lever. Grasp the handles beside the seat. Curl the Movement Arm under the seat as far as possible, pause, and return to starting position. To exit the machine, pull the upper roller handle to release the pad. 11

Grip the handles located on the sides of the seat. Body is positioned with chest-up, shoulders back and against back pad. Rotate the thighs so the knees are pointing upward. With a controlled motion, extend the legs to full extension. Slowly return the legs to the start position. Repeat the motion, while maintaining proper body positioning. 12

Sit on machine placing feet so that tibia is perpendicular to foot pad and feet are shoulder width apart. Select the desired resistance by turning main weight selection knob and add on weight lever. Grasp the handle located on the foot pad and pull the seat forward as far as possible. Grip the handles on the sides of the seat and position body with shoulders and head back against back pad. With a controlled motion, extend the legs until the knees are slightly bent. DO NOT LOCK THE KNEES. Return to the start position, without letting the resistance rest on the stack. Repeat the motion, while maintaining proper body positioning. 13

Sit facing away from the machine and position forearms on pads. Lightly grip the handles with elbows positioned at each side of chest. Alternate: Rotate arms 90 degrees so that hands are to each side of head. Slowly raise elbows as far as possible. Hold the position briefly and then lower the pads slowly to starting position. TIP: If the seat is adjusted properly, pads should not slide on arms during the exercise. 14

With a controlled motion, draw back the arms as far as can be controlled. Return the handles to the start position. Repeat the motion, while maintaining proper body position. 15

Grip the vertical or horizontal handles and position elbows slightly below shoulders. Position body with chest up, shoulders and head back against back pad. Extend the handles out with controlled motion until arms are close to full extension. Slowly return the handles to the start position. 19

23 Maintenance The safety and performance of this product can be maintained only if it is inspected regularly for damage and wear. Pay particular attention to components most susceptible to wear such as belts, belt termination points and position adjustments. Remove any damaged machine from service and replace damaged components immediately. Direct any question regarding mantenance or its function to a qualified Nautilus Technician. Upholstery with a mild soap and water 2. Hand Grips with mild soap and water 3. All outside surfaces with non-abrasive, non-chlorinated household cleaners Cleaning the Shields The shields are made of Polypropylene. Adherence to regular and proper cleaning procedures is recommended to preserve the appearance. Washing to Minimize Scratches Wash Polypropylene with a mild soap or detergent (e.g. Original Dawn Dish washing liquid) and lukewarm water using a clean sponge or a soft cloth. Rise well with clean water. Dry thoroughly with a chamois or moist cellulose sponge to prevent water spots. DO NOT SCRUB OR USE BRUSHES ON THESE PRODUCTS. Fresh paint splashes, grease and smeared glazing compounds can be removed easily before drying, by rubbing lightly with isopropyl alcohol. Afterward, use a warm final wash with mild soap or detergent and rinse. 20

24 Maintenance Some Important Don ts DO NOT use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners Never scrape shields with squeegees, razor blades or other sharp instruments Benzene, gasoline, acetone or carbon tetrachloride should never be used on the shields DO NOT clean shields in hot sun or at elevated temperatures Removal of Paint, Marking Pen, Labels Butyl cellosolve works well for removal of paint, marking pen inks, lipstick, etc. Labels, stickers, etc. may be removed using kerosene. GASOLINE SHOULD NOT BE USED. Parts and Service Regular and scheduled maintenance will prolong the life of your Nautilus equipment. Only use genuine Nautilus replacement parts. The Nautilus Customer Service Team invites you to call in your order for replacement parts. (Please refer to the contacts page on page 22 of this manual for contact numbers.) General Maintenance Frequency of maintenance is determined by several factors: temperature, humidity, use, ventilation & filtrations, shielding and friction. External maintenance may vary from daily to monthly, internal maintenance from six months in a high-use environment to a year when in a lower use setting. NOTICE: Do not place equipment in direct sunlight. Ultraviolet rays can damage shields and upholstery. 21
