2 Welcome Letter The Lebanese Society of Cardiology is glad to organize its 13 national and international congress, with the active participation of eminent cardiologists from Lebanon, Europe and USA. This congress has been made possible due to the relentless efforts of the scientific committee representing the chairmen of the most active working groups. In particular the HF group made a huge effort to organize a heart failure day and the EP group did the same to organize a whole EP and arrhythmias day. These dedicated days are being established as a tradition in the program of the congress. Many other presentations including common sessions with the ESC and the ACC will take place along with workshops, expert meetings and plenary lectures. Special attention has been made to fellows-in-traning with dedicated sessions, oral communications and abstracts session, and a fellows lounge. In order to strengthen the ties with pharmaceutical companies and encourage creativity, a session will highlight the best medical ads designed locally. A general congress is always the occasion to ask what will it bring? In a globalized world where webinars bring very rich and interactive information, where an infinite number of congresses and meetings are organized everywhere, the question is relevant. Other options are of course the organization of dedicated and focused meetings but the attendance is often limited to deeply interested doctors. The Lebanese Society of Cardiology has organized and partnered many days dedicated to interventional cardiology, EP and arrhythmias, acute coronary syndromes, cardiomyopathies etc. and these meetings were very successful. However a general congress is still and should remain the occasion for the majority of cardiologists to meet and interact, for all pharmaceutical companies to be present, and for many presentations to be out of the box and not necessarily guided by the conventional approach of learning. We hope that this version of LSC congress will meet all expectations, knowing that perfection is never attainable, but at least we strive for continuous improvement.
