2 67 th International Congress of the European Society of Cardiovascular and Endo Surgery ESCVS APRIL 2018STRASBOURG Dear Colleagues and Friends, It is a great honour to host the 67th International Congress of the European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESCVS) in Strasbourg, France, the birthplace of vascular surgery. The ESCVS is the oldest society in Europe in the cardiac and vascular surgical field, founded by René Leriche and R. Dos Santos in It has a strong tradition of merging innovative specialties to provide better care for patients. The Society is actively engaged in projects involving its young members, to train them and give them the experience and knowledge of new techniques and materials. In 2018 we return to Strasbourg, where the first conference of ESCVS was held. Strasbourg s history is steeped in 2000 years of international encounters, thanks to its location in the heart of Europe. Widely regarded as one of Europe s most beautiful and historic cities, Strasbourg s sites include its world-famous gothic cathedral and picturesque canals. The Petite France district has been named a UNESCO World Heritage site and Strasbourg is now officially recognised as a City of Art and History. We look forward to sharing this beautiful European city with you as we reflect on the long history of ESCVS and its important role in educating colleagues on the latest lifesaving techniques in our field of surgery.
