This committee will begin drafting guidelines for review Jim B. announced the Deep South Campout fundraiser is Oct 27 th Dan Bear suggested all announcement, events, activities are sent to the website for posting Andy C. submitted an IDR for the annual updated SEAZNAC guidelines Edmund M. submitted an IDR to increase the H&I literature by $1,000 this year to cover literature for several new facilities Open discussion regarding bringing events and activities to Sierra Vista and Cochise County. John S. opened the discussion with a possibility of having an extension to the Activities Subcommittee with the purpose of focusing on the Sierra Vista/Cochise County locations. Craig, Karen, Logan had questions and input about how this would be structured. Margo W. stated the Activities Subcommittee will be bringing several events and activities to Sierra Vista and Cochise County this year and would like to work together with the Groups. At this time, Sierra Vista/Cochise County Groups will be working together with Margo W. and the Activities Subcommittee to create events for their location. Discussion in regard to having SEAZNA in Sierra Vista more often each year. Need to submit an IDR since this will be a guideline change. Too lengthy for the minutes but really great info! Thank you Andy and the SEAZNAC committee for all your dedication and service to our fellowship. A huge shout out to Sierra Vista & Cochise County!! You guys came out in force and made this convention a true gift of recovery. Open forum Discussion: 1,2,3 Step Up Group new group Starter Kit. Received a Starter Kit from Lit Committee H&I budget increase to $8500 to include several new correctional facilities and treatment centers SEAZNAC guideline review and draft SEAZNA meeting in Sierra Vista every 4 th month (3x per year) compromise in IDR Roll Call: Roll call of Groups: Total Active Groups = 40. GSR s present = 26. Required for a Quorum = 21. Quorum met = Yes Old Business: Discussion in regard to MLB seed money, the increase in attendance, and the need for a larger venue. Current seed money is $2500. Bank balance as of today $ Will do some research and submit an IDR with budget soon. New business / Idea Requests (IDR): 1) Maker Edmund M. H&I Subcommittee Idea Request H&I literature budget is asking for $8500 Intent To get literature to those who don t have access to it and to provide it to new facilities H&I serves Consensus met, Quorum Yes, Request Pass 2) Maker Andy C. SEAZNAC Subcommittee Idea Request Approve revised guidelines for SEAZNAC convention Intent SEAZNAC guidelines were revised and reviewed by the convention committee and approved by consensus. 3 Vice Chair Report: Ward reports Dan B. incoming Area Vice Chair will hold a GSR orientation at 1pm at Streams in the Desert prior to next Area meeting. RCM Report: RCM REPORT - 10/ 14/ Good Afternoon family. My name is Jay B. I am an addict and your RCMl. Region was last month on September 16, so I have a few things to report. As you know I put fort h two idea requests on your behalf. The first asked region to strongly request and remind the ARCNA subcommittee that it is a convention for all areas in this region, and that the select ion of workshop speakers should reflect the diversity by including speakers from all areas. This idea request passed. Members of the ARCNA committee were present and embraced this idea. However, it was requested by the members of that committee to ask all areas to get involved with the convention, and for anyone with tapes to submit them. Anyone wanting to get involved see me for more information. The second idea request asking for rotation of ARCNA throughout the 9 areas did not pass as presented. However, it was voted to have an Ad Hoc Committee investigate the viability of this actually happening, looking into the possibilities of venues able to host the convent ion, changing dates, coordinating with areas that have area conventions (by next year there will be possibly 4 areas including ours having area convent ions}, as well as any out of the box ideas that may come up. The Ad Hoc committee chair is me. I have been a little lax on the setting up of this committee. I apologize; however, some family matters, my sweet purple lady Sharon breaking her ankle in 3 places compounding did have something to do with my procrastination. The Phoenix area put forth an Idea Request to form a committee to investigate the fellowship's options, as to whether we should accept the Board of director' s restructure of the bylaws of the corporation. As some of you know, there has been a major restructure of the regional board of director's bylaws and guidelines to cover the fellowship under a 501C3 non -pro fit. There is a group of individuals in the region, and now an area, who have not been happy with the way that has happened and some of the result s. Rather than take up too much time here, I will attach to my electronic copy of this report to the secretary. Anyone interested further can read the report from the RCM2 from Phoenix John M., copy of a letter from a representative of WSO, A report from Vince G. our CEO for the Board of Directors, and a letter from the lawyers involved in setting up of the corporation. Please review and feel free to discuss with me or me. If anyone feels passionate on this matter, please bring it up at the next area, and I will be happy to carry the area conscience to region. Just my monthly reminder about insurance. Every meeting on the regional meeting list is covered for 1 hour before and one hour after the meeting. If you see your meeting is not on the meeting list, get it to the attention of our meeting list coordinator, so it gets put on the regional meeting list. Any questions feel free to get me involved. Any other event, not on the meeting list needs an insurance certificate from region to be covered. All events are covered if there is an insurance request on file at region. It is requested that the insurance request be submitted 60 days before the event. Insurance request forms are available at: htt p:/ / Prior to The regional meeting in Phoenix on November 18, there are meetings of the regional service committees; H&I and PR meet. Just a reminder to our area chairs of these committees that attendance of these regional committees is a part of our area guidelines. As well, there is a lot of great information discussed. Upcoming Important Events: WESTERN STATES LEARNING DAYS ----October at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel in Phoenix. This is 3 days of workshops on service at all levels. How can we better carry the message of recovery? It should be great. There are a lot of good speakers, facilitated forums, etc. Many of the speakers and

4 trusted servants are from this area. GSR's, as well as any Committee Chairs should probably attend, at least for the day on Saturday. Flyers are on the back table. ARIZONA GSR FALL REGIONAL ASSEMBLY---November 10. All GSR's are encouraged to attend. There will be GSR/RCM Orientations, Building Stronger Groups Workshop, attracting members to service, PR and H&I presentations, Board of Directors presentation, and Group Reports all day. Come prepared to give a group update. Saint Andrews Apostle Church in Sierra Vista. This Regional Assembly is in our area. People complain about everything centering in Phoenix. Let's support and attend. Plus, for new GSR's and even "old" GSR's it is a great learning event. YAVAPAI/ VERDE UNITY CAMPOUT September 14,15, and 16 on Mingus Mountain, Prescott National Forest. Directions are on the back of the Flyer. 7t h ANNUAL ARIZONA NA MEN'S SPIRITUAL RETREAT--- Jan 3-Feb. 3, 2019 at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale. It is a wonderful 11th step retreat. There are meditation meetings 2X a day, breakdown groups of 10 men, to share, great speakers, campfire meetings each night, and lots of fellowship with other addicts. RCM (Please see attachments with Board of Director information) Activities: ACTIVITIES REPORT - OCTOBER 14, 2018 GSR S PLEASE READ AT YOUR MEETING For the month of October, there will be no Halloween Celebration for the following reason. In the Spirit of Unity, as an Area, we should be supporting, Western Service Learning Day, being held in Phoenix, AZ, on October 26-28, 2018 and the Halloween Celebration taking place in Sierra Vista on October 27, This way ALL who wish to attend the above mentioned events will be able to do so. The annual Stuff O Roma will be held on November 22, 2018, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 University Drive, Tucson, AZ. It will start at noon and dinner will be served at 12:30. If you are going to bring a Turkey, ham or anything that will be served hot, PLEASE MAKE SURE THE ITEM IS ALREADY PREPARE. All items should be at the church between 10:00 and 11:30. If you wish to help in the kitchen or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact or Jody Flyers will be handed out at November s Area Meeting. The committee is setting up a calendar with all activities on it. We are asking ANY GROUP OR SUBCOMMITTIE to contact me or any other member the subcommittee, with the date of your activity. This is not to say you can or can t have your event but to make it easier to for us as a committee to know about all events so when we will have the calendar and we will be able to plan an activities for the Area without bumping heads with another groups plans. 5 Arc detox to start a Saturday meeting. 2 men s meetings 2 women s meetings Yavapai coming back will need members to help fill chairperson positions meets Friday night at 6:00pm Wilmot state prison will have another 4 meetings to filled Need speakers and chairpersons Literature was discussed 12 meetings at Wilmot state prison and 8 meetings at Federal prison 21 facilities aside from prison system Which gives about $15 a month for each facility IDR submitted to increase last years budget from $7500 to $8500 We will be discussing changing H&I guidelines concerning Prison Panel coordinator to be a 3 year commitment and to have a Vice coordinator Wilmot federal prison need female Spanish speaking members to carry message Need members to carry message to state prison there is a more streamlined way to get into state prison 3yrs off paper contact Steve S. The committee will be discussing the possibility of a new venue to accommodate the large increase in attendance. Also, will be reviewing the budget and seed money. Newsletter: Outreach: Next outreach road trip is Friday Nov 2 nd at Sahaurity Serenity. Mtg starts at 6:30pm, meet at Starbucks on Broadway & Campbell at 5:15pm for a ride Phone Line: Phone line Report for September October 14th, 2018 The SEAZNA Phone Line received a total 59 calls, and 15 of those calls were forwarded to a live addict, for the month of September The Phone line looks good, functioning as expected there are a few shifts still available and if you re interested and want to be of service feel free to call me. If you re interested in the upcoming WSLD that will be held in Phoenix on October 26th, thru the 28th at The Sheraton Crescent Hotel at 2620 W. Dunlap. For more info please see the SEAZNA Website. Mark C PR Subcommittee Report: Public Relations Meeting Minutes Location: Streams In The Desert Date: 10/14/2018 Time: 11am Chairperson- Mariel M Acting Secretary- Mariel M People In Attendance: Mariel M, Judy C, Juan, Paul R, Danny W and Desiree V The meeting was opened with the serenity prayer followed by the purpose and function statements. Past events were discussed, and all were a success. The following events are scheduled for October: *Gospel Rescue Mission Market *Hope Fest Members also discussed new ideas and ways to engage the community which included Adding literature racks to interested community centers (Paul and Juan) Reaching out to local schools and introducing ourselves-offering our services (Mariel) Ordering literature in Spanish (Mariel & Desiree) The committee brainstormed and came up with a lot of ideas but, decided it was best to complete the tasks at hand before adding new ideas.
