SUMMARY OF WORKING EXPERIENCE PERMANENT JOBS November, 2015 to date. Students Counselor, University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences (7 Months) Currently counselling students who failed their exams because of various internal and external issues, drug addictions and those with behavioral and psychological disorders. Creating awareness of counseling in the college, actively participating in the mentorship program for students and peer counsellors training and college HIV & AIDS control unit. July 2004 to July 2011: BRANCH MANAGER, FAULU-KENYA LTD (MICROFINANCE ORGANIZATION) -Nairobi (7 years)
2 Achievement: Grew the number of clients from 500 to 3,000, staff from 5 to 12, loan capacity from 40% to 80%, repayment rate from 40% to 95% and outstanding loan balance from 20million to 50 million. Won a tender to train world vision clients in Mukuru kwa Njenga on starting and managing a business on behalf of the company. I was also assisting the Hr department in the interviewing and recruitment of new staff. Counselling skills helped me a lot in my work while dealing with defaulters, clients and staff issues. SEPTEMBER 1999 JUNE 2004: DEVELOPMENT FINANCE OFFICER, FAULU KENYA LTD-NAIROBI) (5 years) Achievement: Grew clients to 450 which was the highest in the branch, repayment rate to 98%, loan capacity to 90% and outstanding loan balance to 18 million. This earned me a promotion to a branch manager. August 1995 August 1999 OASIS COUNSELING CENTRE, NAIROBI - Program Co-coordinator (5 years) Achievements: Gained vast experience in trauma counseling in Rwanda where I coordinated the program after the genocide in Experience in counseling the youth in schools and churches. Maintained Tear fund England as our main source of funding for various programs, coordinated counseling for bomb blast victims at All Saints cathedral in 1998, got local trainings in schools, churches and children s homes. I also expanded the bookshop and got more funding from Norwegian Church Aid and USAID for our programs. This is where I was trained and exposed to rigorous training in counseling under Doctor Gladys Mwiti. January 1994 July 1995: COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL, MERU- Social Worker and Project Manager (2 years) Achievement: Brought sanity into the project which had been earmarked for closure. Revised books of accounts from 1991 to 1994, brought transparency in the use of funds, brought transparency in the recruitment of children, and built a workshop for the project. Performance of the children in school improved and we took the first child to a national school. The number of children increased from 60 to 120, brought harmony between the two warring factions of the committee from the two regions, and improved the participation of parents in the running of the project. Through training and motivation many parents started income generating projects. I was given the honor to recruit my successor when I left the project in 1995 to join my wife in Nairobi. PART-TIME JOBS SEPTEMBER 2013 TO NOV. 2015: PART TIME LECTURER AT NAZARENE UNIVERSITY (2years) Teaching Psychology and Business courses. October, 2014 to NOV. 2015: Consultant with Partner Africa: Successfully spearheaded savings mobilization campaign for the employees of SOKO Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Voi through a workshop. We formed savings accountability groups in 2014 that are functional to date.
3 August 2011 to November, 2016: TRANSFORMATION COUNSELING SERVICES - Part time Program Co-coordinator (6 years) Achievement: Acquired training and counseling opportunities in children s homes, churches and schools. JANUARY 2013 TO APRIL 2013: PRACTICUM AT NAIROBI WEST HOSPITAL AS A REQUIREMENT BY DAYSTAR UNIVERSITY (4 months) 1. I gained practical experience in Diagnosing various Psychological counseling issues, Psychological assessment, counselling patients with various issues especially in drug addiction, and report writing, design appropriate counseling/clinical psychological interventions. 2. Prepare and keep adequate and professional clinical notes on client progress for ongoing care and reference. 3. Diagnose, prepare treatment plans and interventions using a wide range of therapeutic techniques to better address diverse client needs. PROFESSIONAL SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS ATTENDED 1.
