Mental Health 1 st Aid: report by Billie Jo H. General Fund: 1. Karen reported a beginning balance of $1,409.09, with the following withdrawals/deposits made: Deduction -$96.53 LOSS 0n-call Phone Deduction -$54.75 LOSS Team Meeting Deduction -$ Yellow Ribbon Deposit + $ Liberty Center Donation Leaving a balance of $1, Billie Jo reported that the following completed Mental Health First Aid Trainings: Galilee Baptist Church Center for Lifelong Learning Defiance Archbold Youth Adult 18 people certified 23 people certified 1. Ending balance of the FCSPC General fund is $1, Karen will report to the coalition. 1. Billie Jo will update the members on MHFA trainings. NAMI. Archbold Adult 32 people certified
2 LOSS update: Update on School based Prevention: Bethany S. Billie Jo reported the following pending trainings currently scheduled: Ayersville Local Schools Defiance Local Schools C.L.A.S.S. Fulton Count 4-H LOSS Activity since 08/23/2018 (last meeting): 1. Tonie reported that there have been 1 death by suicide in the four county area since the September 2018 Meeting: 1 Fulton County - suffocation 2. Tonie informed the group that the LOSS Team is regularly called by Police, Fire, and the county coroners. Fulton County has experienced a high number of deaths this year, with 11 in the county and 23 total across the 4 county area. 1. 3 Ohio Suicide Prevention Community Presentations: Gun Safety Project: Tonie L. Survivor of Suicide Event: BJ H. and Defiance High School (10/31 & 11/1) Fairview High School (11/8 & 11/9) 9 Montpelier High School (11/12 & 11/13) 9 Delta Middle School (11/19 & 11/20) 7 Wauseon Middle School (11/28 & 11/29) 7 Wauseon High School (11/28 & 11/29) 9 Archbold Middle School (12/18 & 12/19) 7 North Central Middle School (1/15/19 & 1/16/19) 7 North Central High School (1/15/19 & 1/16/19) 9 1. Tonie reported that she and Billie J Horner attended the Ohio Statewide Suicide Prevention Conference. Tonie shared information on the decline in emotional preparedness of incoming freshman. OSU reported that the University counseling and support services cannot keep up with student demand, in spite of multiple expansions. Incoming freshman are academically prepared, but emotionally unprepared. The university saw multiple campus suicides in 2017, and is taking steps toward prevention. The coalition members discussed the emergence of this locally, including ways to increase the resiliency of youth. 1. Tonie reported that she provided presentations at the following: NAMI Candlelight Vigil on October 7, 2018, 2. Tonie is scheduled to present at the following: Henry County CASA on November 20, 2018 NWOESC on School response to a student death by suicide on 11/20/ Tonie shared that she was recently interviewed by the Cincinnati Enquirer, and that a feature article was completed. Tonie shared the article with the members of the coalition, and agreed to share a link on the coalition Facebook page. The article also included mention of the Four County ADAMhs Board, and local partnering gun retailers. 1. Stuart Smith Navigating Troubled Waters; Complex and Traumatic Grief on 11/7/2018 at Northwest State Community College. 8:00am registration, with a training start of 8:30am 2. LGBTQ Cultural Competency Training AM/PM sessions on November 30, 2018 at the Four County ADAMhs Board. Tonie reported that the AM session was full, but there are openings for the PM session. event. New Business: Website Lou L. 5013c: Tonie L Mini Grant: Next FCSPC Meeting: Karen V. Lou Levy shared an idea to promote mental health, mental health struggles and available treatment information, by linking participating website. The goal would be to have traditionally non mental health entities include this ink on their websites to make the information more available. Lou agreed to work with Tonie Long after the new year. 1. Tonie Reported that after the New Year, she wanted to further explore the possibility of attaining 5013c status for the coalition, and asked the membership to consider participating in an ad hoc to make this happen. More to follow at the January meeting. 1. Tonie reported the Ohio Suicide Prevention Coalition is again offering mini-grants. There would be 2 opportunities in One grant will be offered for up to $2,000 for Suicide prevention, and a second for up to $2,000 for postvention. Tonie informed the coalition that we would be applying for both. 1. Karen presented possibilities to the members regarding the November and December meetings, which conflict with the holidays. It was determined that the meetings would be suspended until 2019, with the next meeting held at the Four County ADAMhs Board at 7:30am on January 24, 2018 follow up with Lou to and report 2. Tonie will follow up and 3. Tonie will submit the grant, and 4. A reminder informing the members of the next meeting time/date will be sent.
5 Announcements/Discussion Les. M. Les reported that this would be his last FCSPC meeting, due to his retiring at the end of December He thanked the members for their work, and informed them that the Board was currently in the process of confirming the next CEO of the ADAMhs Board.
