1 Substance Abuse, Prevention and Treatment Coalition/Task Force 08/24/2018 Community Health Assessment/Improvement Plan Meeting Highlights and Action Plan Topic Welcome and Introductions Key Points Carey McKee opened the meeting with a welcome and introductions were made. Action Items Including Responsible Party/Timeline if applicable Approval of Minutes Jay Weygandt moved that the July 27, 2018 meeting minutes be approved without change, second by Shaun Miley. All in favor, motion carried. Cardinal Health Grant Update Tracey and Carey had the opportunity to visit Ohio Northern's Pharmacy Department in Ada Ohio. The Pharmacy Department has a Mobile Clinic which they had on display. Topics of discussion included: Ways to enhance capacity and engage Coalition members, effective approaches to working together cohesively. Medicine Safety for Teens Communication Best Practices, many media ideas were shared. Andy from Dot.com offered to work with Eric, Social Media Committee, and the Data Committee. Clark County shared information regarding the educational forums that are being held to reach out to multiple community disciplines. Also, information was presented regarding the Blood Borne Pathogen Prevention Program that is in the initial stages. Ohio Northern was very excited about these two initiatives to meet the needs of our community. There is discussion regarding initiating a language change when communicating or educating in order to reduce stigma. Suggestions: Substance Abuse to Substance Use Disorder Addict to someone has an addiction Alcoholic to someone struggles with alcohol The push is to start thinking differently so that we will speak differently. Changes in our way of communicating will influence society to speak and think differently Discussion began on renaming the Coalition. Need to eliminate the word Abuse. Ability/Skills Results: Skills we have among our membership include: Ministry Marketing/Communications Community Leaders/Civic Organizer Conflict Resolution

2 Community Collective Impact Model 4 Change (CCIM4C) Blood Borne Pathogen Prevention Update Addiction/Prevention Specialist Graphic Design Event Planning Skills needed include: Finance Development Business Insurance Youth Fund Raising We are now in year 2 of the CCIM4C, which is the Implementation phase. The CCIM4C committee is in the process of crafting strategies that are informed by causal and root causes. Tracey shared that they need people to attend the BHAG Conference, 3:30PM to 6:00PM in Dublin Ohio. Carey is attending and maybe Emma The location for the BBP Prevention Program will be the Soup Kitchen in there upstairs area. McKinley Hall will be supplying 2-3 staff members (one will need to be available downstairs to open the door) along with the group who are providing testing and education. Numerical ID cards will be used, no names A name has not yet been decided on Budgets and orders are being developed to supply and maintain the program Drug Death Review There are 25 confirmed cases of Unintentional Overdose Deaths, 42 suspected. The Drug Death Review Team meets bi-monthly. At that time Dr. Marsh goes through the cases with those around the table (multiple agencies are involved) looking for patterns/trends to see where we need to focus efforts to facilitate changes, i.e. a pattern that has been found in most cases is some form of trauma, physical and/or emotional. This has been the impetus for the CCIM4C BHAG. The group is working on a data base to gather data and pattern information before the meeting in order to better focus when they come together. One pattern that has been identified has led to the recommendation of possibly extending the Warm Hand-off model to the court system. The Warm Hand-off staff would literally go to an individual s door if they dropped off the system to facilitate treatment requirements. There may need to be more conversations with the various courts to determine how to bridge any gaps and/or increase resources The team now has enough data to be able to look for patterns/trends and invite other to the table to work on resolutions. Questions from coalition members include: Is data actionable yet? What information can be shared with the Coalition membership? Can the stats for members of the military be reviewed again? Numbers in the report distributed do not appear to support perceptions and other sources of information. Update by Tracey Update by Wendy and Emma Update by Emma
