1 MADUFAFA Annual Report 2016 MADUFAFA has now a total of 37 former less privileged children enrolled in formal schools. 2 Progress in January December 2016 The Jan Dec period has been successful despite some few challenges encountered during the course of the year, we still serve the four Core Programme Areas (CPAs) which are; 1) Education support to Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVCs) 2) Health 3) Economic strengthening 4) Psycho-social support and Basic care. As elaborated below; Education support to Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVCs) In this year 2016, we have taken 27 (twenty seven) critically vulnerable children back to school. These included; school dropouts, children in school going age but not attending school, and children affected and infected with HIV/AIDS among others. This makes a total of 37 children on MADUFAFA Child Sponsorship Programme (CSP). Under this porgramme MADUFAFA pays school fees, buys scholastic materials and other basic necessities needed at school. We have sponsors from Taiwan, German and Australia. 3 Health Department MADUFAFA is privileged to extend a number of free health services like HIV Counseling and Testing, Family planning, Urgent medical help, Health education, and dental services. In collaboration with different service providers (partner organizations) we have reached a number of needy people in communities we operate through provision of direct voluntary health services. Medication to some cases has been possible though big cases say, HIV/AIDS positive have been referred to partner health service providers like Nsambya hospital-home care Department and Mulago regional referral hospital for extended medical attention. HIV/AIDS positive cases have been referred to partner health facilities for medication. Since we are also interested in serving the social part, we continue following up the clients and help him/her where necessary.

4 Family empowerment programmes (Economic strengthening) MADUFAFA currently has two sub-programmes all aiming at raising the economic standard of the poor families following the cease of the third program which was Business startup micro finance fund (BSMF) due to some difficulties with beneficiaries failing to pay back the interest free loans. The current programmes are; a) Aitenga women-self empowerment programme b) Enkoko/chicken project. a) Aitenga women-self empowerment programme: The program has a total of five ladies accessing both handmade and sewing machine skills. The uniqueness about this program is that it also act as an employment opportunity because ladies get paid for every good quality handmade product they make. Since we encourage all ladies on the program to save, their savings is later on used to start up a small scale business and we have approved two business plans this year. b) Enkoko/chicken project: 2/15 {Two out of around fifteen} assessed qualified to access chicken alongside rearing skills. Through selling of eggs we are very certain that the income of these families will go up. The family of Mr. Mbuga received six (6) chicken in May 2016 and now they have 32 chicken because they hutched new ones and this family collect eggs on daily basis. This program is however limited to only those that have space/house for chicken rearing since our target beneficiaries are tenants who rent a one room house, they don t qualify for the program yet the need is there. The re-evaluation for this program is ongoing so as to achieve more results and make the program more accessible. Psycho-social support and Basic care Since most of our beneficiaries are coming from poor families and face a lot of challenges, our social workers carry out timely counseling and interactions and then help to come up with vivid remedies to identified challenges. We carry out both individual and group counseling and we use platforms like Parents MADUFAFA Association (PMA), schools - in case of sponsored children and home visits/follow ups among others. Occasionally we distribute mosquito nets especially during rainy season when malaria spread rate is very high, clothes and some other necessities to the needy families.

5 Networking and collaboration MADUFAFA is not working in isolation, during the course of this year we have created a good working relationship with the following likeminded organizations/institutions; a) Step 30 International Ministries b) SHI-TAI International Foundation c) Children at Risk Action Network (CRANE) d) Wakiso District NGO Forum (WADINGOF) e) Nansana Civil Society Network (NCSN) f) Kiyita Family Alliance for Dev t (KIFAD) g) Family planning and youth clinic Kyengera Administration All departments have registered progresses. This is due to enthusiastic staff members and volunteers that have worked hand in hand for this success. The new systems both electronic and hard copy forms have also guided us thus making MADUFAFA operate smoothly. The Uganda National NGO Board has extended our operational permit for a period of 5 years which will be renewed afterwards.
