Monthly Meetings January 18th February 15th March 15th Upcoming Events: Beef O Brady s Main St Monday, Jan 14th 6:30-8:00pm 5th Annual Masquerade Ball Sat, Feb. 16th Seven Springs The holidays are upon us as another year comes to an end. But we are gearing up for the new year full speed ahead! Our 5 th Annual Masquerade Ball planning is in full force. All members will have tickets and flyers available during this month s meeting. We need the participation of all members to make this event a success. We are not only celebrating our 5 th Annual event but also, the 100 th Anniversary of BPW/Florida! The Ball is our major fundraiser raising funds for the Joanne Grassi Scholarship Fund which allows our organization to award educational scholarships to help Pasco County women returning to school to better their lives and that of their families, and in, turn improves our community. For the ball, we are need table sponsors, raffle items, baskets, and spirits for the spirit table, and a committee to help make this event one to be talked about (in a good way ). For BPW/Florida 100 th Anniversary the state conference is being held in Punta Gorda. Our State President, Jerri Evans is looking for anyone who is interested in serving on the conference committee. Anybody interest in helping to plan the 100 th Anniversary Conference let me know and I will forward your contact information to Jerri, or you may go on the state website to retrieve her contact information. Also, nominations are open for the following state officers: President, Vice President, Secretary and Nominations Chair. Nominations forms will be available on the state website the last week of December. The nomination period ends March 30, Submissions for awards at the state conference are due May 1, A list of available award submissions is also available on the state website. According to our Bylaws, officer elections are to take place in March. I propose a change at our meeting to change the Bylaws to nominations in March, elections in April, and installation in May. Our fiscal year runs from June 1 to May 31 st. By January we need a nominating committee of at least three members. Positions available are: President-Elect, 1 st Vice President, 2 nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. Remember BPW/ Calusa and BPW/FL s mission is to achieve equality for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education, and information. We have come along way in 100 years, but gender inequality still exits. As of 2018, women still make 78 cents for every dollar earned by men. Approximately 1 in 4 homeless women are homeless because of violence committed against her (Source: Be a part of the solution by helping us ensure equal economic opportunities, educational equity, and end gender-based violence. We have a mixer/ meeting/member drive Monday, January 14, 6:30pm-8pm at Beef O Brady s on Main Street. We are going to try something new; having an evening meeting/ mixer the second Monday of the month along with our regular Friday noon meeting. Bring guests, friends, family, and remember BPW is for men also! 2019 is going to be the year! A year of change, opportunity, and gratitude. Gratefully, Tammy White BPW/Calusa, President

10 Business & Professional Women Calusa VISIT US ON THE WEB AT Let us all remember this Collect as we go about our daily activities, work and family interactions! A Collect for Club Women By Mary Stewart Keep us, O God from pettiness; Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed. Let us be done with fault-finding And leave off self-seeking. May we put away all pretense And meet each other face to face Without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgment And always generous. Let us take time for all things; Make us to grow calm, serene, gentle. Teach us to put into action our better impulses, Straightforward, and unafraid. Grant that we may realize It is the little things that create difference. That in the big things of life we are as one. And may we strive to touch and to know The great common human heart of us all, and O, Lord God, let us not forget to be kind. Amen Page 10
