I swear summer gets shorter every year. I did go fishing this year on the second try, boat broke down on first try. Didn t catch much, but guess that is why they call it fishing. While I did not accomplish much fishing, your Board of Directors spent a lot of time during the summer ALASKAN PURCHASER working with a consultant in an effort to explore ways to better serve our members. As a result, we will continue to provide high quality speakers for our seminars and Pro-D meetings, but will reduce the number of Pro-D meetings in favor of more social and networking activities. We will also transition some meetings into panel type discussions to allow more interaction with members. We are also working with other groups similar to ours to broaden our experience with more diverse training and networking. In the past we have had joint meetings with the Project Managers group. We hope to expand that to include Women in Construction and possibly a paralegal group. As always, we want to provide an agenda that meets the needs of our members. Please don t be bashful; tell us what you want, what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong. Also if you have ideas about other groups we could partner with send me the name and contact information. Hopefully there is still a little summer left. I plan to catch as many rays as possible. 4 continued changes are coming. I can tell you from personal experience the satisfaction of completing the certification process is well worth the effort. If you are serious about your profession, and currently studying with the 2014 study material, there is still time to complete everything before the current exam version ends. Megan Self from ISM-Spokane is now the NPEC Treasurer. She will do a great job, but Lorie will be missed. Still no Pacific Northwest Conference this year. Planning for 2019 in Spokane is well underway. Put that in your budgets and calendars for October timeframe. I was taught that the way of progress is neither swift nor easy.
