Action 2 Previous Minutes and Action from August 23 rd The minute of the previous meeting held on 22 November 2016 were reviewed by the group. J Macdonell advised of one change to be made on page 2, to replace the course title CP Investigation & Early Management (Inter-Agency Context) with RCPCH Child Protection Recognition and Response. The minute was then approved as an accurate record of the meeting. 2.1 Actions From Previous Meeting J Macdonell updated on the actions from the previous meeting and confirmed that actions will be picked up later on the Agenda, where appropriate. The following points were noted: J Macdonell advised that she has checked with Kirsten re 1

2 undergraduate medical students for Edinburgh and reported that there is no specific training for undergraduates in Fife. H Rhodes added that students do a week at SJH and a week in the community. P Macdonald agreed to send s IRD presentation to J Fusaro and J Macdonell L Logie advised that there are 5 topics for Friday afternoon sessions (Paediatric Speciality Trainees) and informed that Barbara Stewart is now leading on ST teaching and will be updating and revising presentations. J Macdonell advised that the Child Protection Recognition and Response course has been postponed until June J Macdonell advised that the Long Bone Fracture Policy has now been signed off and being used in the three Health Boards. J Macdonell confirmed that the body maps on the Proforma have been amended by medical illustration / CKirk 3 Education and Training 3.1 Training & Education Action Plan Education & Training Pathway J Macdonell referred the group to the previously circulated paper Item The group reviewed and discussed the revised draft pathway. Further revisions were agreed and would be completed by P Macdonald. suggested that Wednesday Peer Review could be hosted in other Boards rather than always with NHS Lothian. The group approved this suggestion and agreed to draw up a rota whereby splitting the sessions, for example 2 sessions to NHS Fife, 2 sessions to Borders and 8 sessions split between RHSC and SJH. L Logie and P Macdonald informed that they have a meeting with SCORM in a few weeks time and will report back from that meeting. J Macdonell advised that she would details of the RCPCH Level 3 Course to Pauline Macdonald. The group agreed that the SEAT logo should be added to the protocol once final revisions have been made and a discussion took place regarding where the pathway should go next. 3 P Macdonald agreed to add details to Lothian CP Homepage GP Training J Macdonell asked to confirm if GP training is accessible to GPs in NHS Fife and NHS Borders. advised that yes, training is accessible and can attend sessions held at NES, Westport in Edinburgh. J Macdonell agreed to contact Fiona Ballantyne to enquire if there are any GP elearning modules available on LearnPro in NHS Fife. 3.3 Developing Pathways Long Bone Fracture Policy J Macdonell had previously advised in Agenda Item 2.1 that the Long Bone Fracture Policy has now been signed off and being used in the three Health Boards Bruising in non-mobile infants J Macdonell referred the group to the 3 previously circulated papers. It was noted that NHS Fife have a policy and John Morrice was asked to forward a copy of this on to Jane Macdonell. The group agreed that a new combined policy would be the way forward with two versions. One for Clinical use and another for Multiagency use. C Ketteridge volunteered to look at combining the policies and agreed to contact L Logie outwith the meeting to discuss this matter Shared Care Pathway between DGHs and RHSC J Macdonell referred to the previously circulated paper for discussion. The group agreed that this must be a multi-agency policy and at a National level. J Macdonell tasked with reviewing the WoS shared care pathway and provide comments. The group recognised that this could be a big piece of work and the following actions were noted: Advice would be required from Police Scotland. K Hiremath agreed to provide details of a contact. J Macdonell to contact Jillian McFadzean J Macdonell to discuss at the next 3 MCN meeting 4 Data and Standards J Macd CKett / LL K H 4.1 Data Collection J Macdonell confirmed that she had circulated the NHS Borders spreadsheet for collecting minimum data set for CP medicals, which commenced on 1 January 2017 to colleagues in Lothian and Fife. 3

4 J Macdonell asked Lothian and Fife colleagues to confirm that the dataset is in place and being populated as of 1 January. confirmed that it was in place in Lothian. J Fusaro advised that she had spoken to her PA about the spreadsheet and would check on her progress completing it. JF J Macdonell added that if there were any issues or queries re the new dataset, colleagues can contact either herself or Irene Amos in Borders. It was clarified that the existing collation of CSA dataforms should continue as before and be submitted monthly to S Foster and that the new dataset for CP medicals should be completed on the spreadsheet and submitted to S Foster on a quarterly basis. ALL/ SF SF advised that the 2016 Quarter 4 data report has not been completed due to outstanding dataforms that have not been submitted to the MCN. SF confirmed that outstanding forms have been chased up and that only Borders forms have yet to be submitted to the MCN. 4.2 Proforma Feedback J Macdonell confirmed that the proforma had been revised and that the final version has been circulated and should be in use across the 3 health boards Standards / KPI J Macdonell informed that the North of Scotland have been tasked with doing a Gap analysis on the standards. J Macdonell does not have any further information at this time as to whether SEAT will be asked to do the same. 4.4 Training As previously noted in Agenda Item 2.1, J Macdonell confirmed that the Child Protection Recognition and Response course had been postponed. A new date is yet to be confirmed to run the course in June J Macdonell advised that RCPCH Scottish Child Protection Committee is organising a Level 3 course on Friday 21 st April and that priority would be given to paediatricians to attend. 4.5 RCPCH Competencies advised that an ST is currently doing an audit which would be reviewed in the Summer. There was no further update on this agenda item. 4.6 FFLM Guidance The group referred to the previously circulated paper which was noted for information. 4

5 5 Regional issues NHS Fife ongoing discussions about vacant post for Lead Clinician Child Protection. J Morrice added that Jenny Fusaro will be retiring at the end of April J Fusaro advised that she plans to come back for 2 days per week but details on this have yet to be finalised. No further updates were given. 6 Part 2 - CSA 6.1 Forensic Cleaning J Macdonell advised that since the previous meeting she had contacted Elizabeth Gallagher and the outcome is that there are variations re where to go to in respect of ordering up forensic supplies. It was noted that the situation has not resolved. There is still no forensic cleaning product and colleagues continue to use normal wipes as the previous product is out of date and has not been replaced. K Hiremath agreed to provide Jane Macdonell with names and numbers of contacts in Lothian, Borders and Fife. KH K Hiremath reported that the National Forensic Group have been looking at draft standards for forensic cleaning and products and that something should be available within the next two weeks after the consultation exercise J Macdonell enquired if a Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) assessment would be carried out so that this would not be required to be completed by each individual Board. K Hiremath understood that a COSHH Assessment would be done. 6.2 Clinic Space J Macdonell informed the group that she is attending a meeting tomorrow afternoon with Graham Milne, Elizabeth Gallagher, Hilary Ansell and Jan McClean to discuss issues including clinic space, colposcope replacement and secure storage of digital images. L Logie informed that the colposcope at the RHSC continues to be unreliable and is not always recording / finalising DVDs. J Macdonell advised that they have costed for 4 colposcopes as a minimal requirement for Civic Centre, RHSC, Fife and Borders. J Macdonell agreed to update on progress after the meeting with Graham Milne. 6.3 Leaflets and Information JPFE CSA Leaflet 5

6 J Macdonell advised that since the last meeting she has been researching what leaflets are currently available on various English SARC websites to get some ideas for MCN leaflets and referred the group to the previously circulated paper for comments. The group reviewed the JPFE leaflet and approved it with no further changes recommended. The following action points were noted: J Macdonell to take leaflet to BISSY C Ketteridge to take leaflet to HAG J Macdonell agreed to discuss with J Fusaro re taking the leaflet to an appropriate group in NHS Fife CKett / JF Journey of DNA Swab L Logie talked to the previously circulated paper and advised that an artist has been approached to support the creation of leaflets and media for the new RHSC. L Logie gave a background to the draft leaflet and highlighted that this is intended to be from a child s perspective. L Logie informed that she had contacted Nicola Clayson s replacement to ask for some guidance regarding what happens to the swab in the laboratory but has not had any response to date. K Hiremath agreed to suggest some other possible contacts and suggested Derek Scrimgeour in the first instance. KH L Logie hopes to produce information leaflets in various media that could be accessed via tablets, websites and paper format. J Macdonell agreed to look at possible leaflets including: Physical Myths and Facts J Macdonell tabled two papers of information she had obtained from St Mary s and the Rowan. The group agreed that the paper format was lengthy and L Logie recommended exploring the option of using an App. agreed to contact IT to enquire if the HospiChill App could be used to link information and to possibly invite someone to speak after a Peer Review session. P Macdonald agreed to look into options using the Healthy Respect website. 6.4 CSA Peer Review Education Topics for 2017 J Macdonell confirmed that Kranti Hiremath would be giving a talk on 28 th February after Peer Review on FFLM exams and that Gill Moreton from the Rivers Centre would be giving a talk on Self Care after Peer Review on 28 th March. It was noted that there would be no education topic at April Peer Review as this is an evening 6

J Macdonell confirmed that she is looking to invite other speakers to Peer Review from May onwards, including Mr Lam to give a talk on Urology. suggested that Dermatology would also be a good option if possible. J Macdonell asked S Foster to send out an to Peer Review clinicians and forensic physicians to inform of the update re Education Topics and Speakers.
