Please give a moment of your time and say a little prayer for these brave volunteers who are serving in this nation s military. February Potluck Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 at 6:30 PM KENMORE COMMUNITY CLUB Arrive around 6:30 P.M. to help set up for the potluck and a little social conversation. The annual business meeting regularly scheduled for January will be held at this potluck MEMBERS CORNER The January Potluck had 16 members signing in the attendance book, this included two guests, Mohan and Bharati Khandekar who both joined as our newest members. We welcome you both and look forward to sharing with you the Kenmore Community Club. Thank you again to our new Treasurer Sheri Baker for weeding our gardens on a warm January day - THANKS Sheri it looks great!! -Annette We understand that LuciBelle is having some trouble with that injury she received when twisting her knee a few weeks ago. She is in Overlake. Hang in there LuciBelle until you are up and feeling ship/shape! PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE Thank you all for your cooperation in postponing our January Annual Meeting to February 11th. In this newsletter you will find an agenda for the meeting. If you have anything you wish to address please give me a call so it can be included as an agenda item. You will be asked to put on your thinking cap as we discuss important issues that will be addressed. If your 2009 dues have been paid you should find a number 9 after your name on the address of this newsletter. If you do not find the 9 and have paid your dues, don t panic, see me or Treasurer Sheri Baker at the Potluck on Wednesday. Sometimes the paper flow is slow. If you find any number other than a 9, your membership has lapsed and you need to renew for We still need a recording secretary for 2009!!!!!!!!!! No one has stepped forward to volunteer their time. I encourage you to get involved. As I work on this article for the newsletter we do not have a candidate for Secretary. The job is simple, attend the meeting, record information, and compose the minutes and send a copy to each board member and the club manager. Please read this rewrite from the December newsletter - and give consideration to filling these very important shoes. The importance of having recorded minutes is that they create a written record of our organizations operation to fulfill requirements of both state and federal government in preserving our non-profit status. Additionally they record the history of our members, our operation and our organizations culture for future members and the general public. (An example of the records importance would be to a genealogist searching for any snippet of information regarding a family tie to the club. Through our minutes, sign-in-book, photographs or newspaper articles that we have on file, the information would be of great value). 2 Returning Travelers Club gadabouts are coming back into town for some rest and relaxation: Bud and Annette Eaton have returned from a relaxing, sun filled warm weather trip to Arizona. All the way down and back with no snow on any of the roads with exception to Snoqualmie Pass on the day of departure. HOPELINK The focus of our club s support for Hopelink has been during the holidays, but there is an urgent need for non-perishable food donations or cash throughout the year. 5 KENMORE COMMUNITY CLUB Financial facts As your new treasurer I wanted to update the membership on a few changes that have been made. Our financial information will all be kept on Quicken and to date all of 2008 has been input. At the November board meeting a motion was made, seconded and passed that the hourly rental be increased from $50 an hour to $60 an hour. The final review of our 2009 budget will be done at the February 25th board meeting and with the additional rental income the projected revenues for the Kenmore Community Club should put us in the black. At the January 28th board meeting a motion was made, seconded and passed that all damage deposits be kept in a separate account and that is in the process of being set up. I will have copies available at the February 11th annual meeting and potluck. Bring your ideas ***************** The board really needs your ideas and input to help strengthen and grow our club. During the February 11th meeting and potluck we will have a 15minute brainstorming session to come up with some activities and/or projects you would like to see KCC get involved in.
