They are not available at all times so please call in advance to schedule a mutually convenient time or talk with them at the field if they are there. Ask any board member for AMA and club membership applications. All AMA, FAA and Field Rules must be followed which are posted at the flying site at all times. Name this aircraft MEETINGS Meetings are scheduled on the first Monday of the month except for June, July, and August. The location is First Parish Church in Berlin MA On route 62 Between Carter St. and Woodland Ave. October name these two similar aircraft Halifax Lancaster The Halifax had similar lines to the Lancaster, especially from the rear aspect. If asked to name a British bomber most would probably say "Lancaster". However, almost as many Halifaxes served with Bomber Command. In some ways, particularly crew survivability, the Halifax was a better aircraft. Only 15% of downed aircrews managed to make it out of a Lancaster. While similar looking, the main difference is that most Halifax used Bristol Hercules radial engines and most Lancs used the Rolls Royce Merlins. Canadiam Lanks used the Packard built Merlins. From a distance, an easily noted visual diference is in the vertical stabilizers with the Lancaster'e being fairly tall and narrow. The Halifax's were trianular and later rectangular for better authority in vilent menuvers. The main disadvantage of the Halifax was that it couldn't carry as heavy a bomb load as the Lanccaster. It also couldn't be modified to carry the very large "cookie" and "grand slam" bombs that the Lancaster could. As a result, production was gradually switched over to Lancasters as the war went on. 3 MEETINGS : Monday October 3rd, meeting was called to order at 7:45pm. 18 members present. 1. Secretary s report: a. 62 total members for 2016, including 46 renewals and 12 new members to date for b. CMRCM Auction shall be set for Sunday, November 13th. Contact Randy if you can volunteer to help with the event. Note. Ray and Rue have already volunteered to help with the auction. c. The "Why Airplanes Fly" presentation to the Boy Scouts is scheduled for Friday November 18th, Please contact Randy for additional information. d. Boy Scouts Demonstration Day at the field is scheduled for Saturday November 19th. 2. Treasurer s report: Read and accepted, See report below. 3. Field Director s report: a. The field, parking lot and road are in very good shape. 4. Old Business: a. SAFETY REMINDERS: 1. We need to remain diligent about not flying over the road. Any accident would most likely result in us losing our lease. If you see someone flying over the road, please bring it to their attention. It's possible they don't even realize it. 2. Remember to call your intentions at the flight line wether your ready to enter the field, exit the field, etc Please inspect and cycle your battery packs, espically if you have not been flying for a while. 4. A reminder that all aircraft should be restrained when arming it. There is to be NO arming of aircraft in the parking lot so please restrain and arm any aircraft in the pit area. We have had a few near accidents happen recently and that is just not acceptable. b. Non Members: There have been a few sigtings of non members (possibly uninsured) coming to the field to fly. If you see someone you don't recognize attempting to fly, please feel free to ask them to show their member ID, FAA or AMA card. Remember, even AMA members and FAA registered people need to be a member of CMRCM or an invited guest of a member to fly at the field. They also do need to demonstrate safe flight opperation to a club officer. c. Issues or concerned about your Battery Packs health, check out Batteries Plus, located at 197 N Boston Post Rd W Marlborough, MA ( d. The Boy Scouts Presentation of "Why Airplanes Fly" is scheduled for Friday, November 18th, Contact Randy for additional details. e. The Boy Scouts Demonstration Day is scheduled for Saturday November 19th at the Flying Field. We are expecting around 20 Scouts and there parents. If you can attend and help with the demonstration that would be great, the Boy Scouts are expected to start arriving around 10am. 5. New Business: a. The club has voted in the New Board of Directors at the November Meeting. The New Board is as follows: President: Randy Holtgrefe Vice President / Treasurer: Jonathan West Field Director / Safety Coordinator: Bob Waring Club Contact / Secretary: Ken Kennedy At large Directors: Joel Smith, Chuck Dolan, Ruane Crummett b. The Club Dues shall remain the same for c. The membership cap shall remain at 75 members for It was my pleasure to serve as your Club Contact, Vice President and Secretary over the past few years, please join me in Welcoming Ken Kennedy and Chuck Dolan to the Board.
