1 1. Introduction This short guide sets out Safeguarding Information for Parents and Carers the College commitment to safeguarding a summary of Safeguarding Policy and Procedures at KCC sources of support or help for parents or carers who are worried or have concerns about their or another s child, ward or vulnerable adult, known by some as adults at risk. Note that child in law refers to anyone under Safeguarding at KCC All staff at Knowsley Community College believe that safeguarding all of our students is paramount. We are fully committed to safeguarding our students from physical, verbal and emotional abuse, including online, and neglect. We understand the signs and symptoms of harm or abuse; we are vigilant; and we will always act immediately and appropriately to concerns, disclosures or allegations. A copy of our Safeguarding Policy and Procedure is available on request. Staff and students report Safeguarding concerns to a team of Careers and Student Advisers in Student Services who are also professional Designated Safeguarding Officers. They will always take immediate and appropriate action. If you have Safeguarding concerns, please contact our Designated Safeguarding Advisers on They will always provide advice and support and ensure that your concern is dealt with appropriately. Please find on the next pages some links to sources of support outside the College which you may find useful. Please note that some sources of support have eligibility criteria such as age and where you live. These are detailed on the appropriate websites. Trisha Long, Head of Student Services and Lead Safeguarding Officer March 2015
