7 Croydon Family Power CVA & Gingerbread Corner working in Thornton Heath, Selhurst and Broad Green to identify and strengthen human & physical assets Recruiting 60 adults and 20 young people (8 to 10 yrs) as Family Connectors to harness the energies of 600 local people to develop new social networks and peer support

10 Community Connectors Social Recovery Key outcomes: Range of talents & high level of commitment among the new Community Connectors 3 asset maps and 77 citizen led community development projects Projects receiving further funding
11 Connectors stories Where I had moved from, there seemed to be a lot of support for parents looking for work, especially mothers, but there did not seem a lot of provision in Croydon. Through our conversations we identified others who were looking for support and guidance and identified the skills we had to respond to this. I recall why many parents struggle to get work, just attending an interview leaves them out of pocket. It is difficult. We ran a successful personal development programme drawing on a range of resources within the community. From there we developed a CIC and have been awarded Awards for All funding." 12 Building Health Partnerships Working with the Family Centre, CVA has been developing an ABCD approach to health and wellbeing Aug Mar 2014 in New Addington and Fieldway Main objectives: 1) To adopt a localities focus - auditing physical & local structures and mapping existing services & activities 2) To identify key connectors - the local people and health champions who can make things happen 3) To grow initiatives enabling people to enact their own solutions around health & wellbeing
