2 ABOUT NHFT We are dedicated to making a difference for you, with you. We deliver many of the NHS services that are provided outside of hospital and in the community, including physical, mental health and speciality services. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. Our care extends to people in the community, as well as in hospitals and clinics. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. OUR VISION, WITH YOUR SUPPORT OUR JOURNEY SO FAR 2017 has been an exceptionally busy year for NHFT. We were off to a flying start in January when we achieved an overall good rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and outstanding for caring which we are very proud of. We could not have achieved any of this without our committed staff, governors and volunteers who are so important to us in delivering our ambitions for the people of Northamptonshire. We were also proud of several other achievements during 2017, including being identified as one of the top performing NHS provider organisations in the country by NHS Improvement in its Single Oversight Framework, and reaching the finals of several national awards including the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) People Management Awards 2017 and the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Provider Trust of the Year For NHFT to continue on the path to success, it s vital that we have a robust strategy and set of plans in place to guide us through the next four years. As the NHS turns 70, demand for health services is higher than ever we have a growing and ageing population and the expectations of the NHS are changing. We are confident that our strategy (DIGBQ) will support us to become a leading provider of outstanding, compassionate care and have developed this strategic plan to guide our journey to We work very closely with two clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in Northamptonshire. It is their responsibility, along with NHS England and local government, to make decisions about what to spend NHS funding on to meet the needs of the people in the local area. CCGs commission (or buy) these services from a provider, such as NHFT. It is our role to deliver these services according to the contract issued by the CCGs and to make sure we meet the standards they set so that we get the best results for patients. Some teams have already responded to the overall Trust plan by developing their own local business plans, describing what DIGBQ means for them and their local priorities. We would like to thank our staff and stakeholders for their input into our updated DIGBQ strategy and members of the public who have given us their valuable time to provide us with feedback to shape our plans which will help us to make a difference for and with the people of Northamptonshire. SHAPING OUR STRATEGY TOGETHER During 2017 and into 2018 we have worked with our staff and engaged with our service users, stakeholders and public to determine our focus for our DIGBQ strategy. We have considered our national and local challenges and our existing strategic goals. We have agreed that our DIGBQ strategic themes are still relevant and have kept set our planned outcomes for the future with your help.

4 HOW WILL WE ACHIEVE SUCCESS For the last few years our strategy had been delivered under five key themes, which help us decide and plan the work we do across the Trust and activity we will support. We call our strategy DIGBQ and our themes are: DEVELOP IN PARTNERSHIP This means we want to strengthen our existing working relationships with people like GPs and build new relationships so we can deliver more joined up services to people in our communities. We will be working together for and with the communities we serve to deliver better value services that are easier for patients to access and building strong relationships with patients, service users, carers and organisations. Work collaboratively with commissioners to maximise patient and partnership benefits Gain partnership agreement to new ways of working Create opportunities to build new NHS Income Create opportunities to build non-nhs Income Continue to build partnerships through co-production with, patients, carers, our members, our staff and stakeholders INNOVATE This means we will constantly be researching, creating and trying new ways to provide a better service. We will be a diverse, contemporary organisation engaged in delivering and sharing innovations that are changing the future. Develop the culture, capacity and capability to support innovaiton and research within the Trust Change practice and services whilst demonstrating improved clinical effectiveness Maximise involvement and partcipation in innovaiton and research within the Trust; with patients, service users and carers; and with our partners GROW OUR STAFF CAPABILITY This means we will develop our staff to make sure they have the right skills and experience and feel supported and proud to deliver care. All our services are safe, effective, compassionate and co-produced with patients, staff, carers and commissioners to meet changing needs.
