4 CarolAnn Peterson Curriculum Vitae Page 4 MEMBER TRAINER STOP Safety Through Our Perseverance Advisory Board Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department Responsibilities To assist the Sheriffs Department regarding Intervention Teams and programs and their response to domestic violence and to assist the Department in regional trainings to law enforcement and community oriented policing programs TRAINER 1997 Probation Department Los Angeles County California Responsibilities Provide training for probation officers on the dynamics of domestic violence the mandated laws affecting their jobs and the issues which probation officers may encounter in their jobs includes trainings for California Youth Authority TEAMADVISOR TRAINER 1996 Present California POST Peace Officers Standards Training Sacramento California Responsibilities A statewide Domestic Violence Team designed to administer the VAWA Violence Against Women Act funding and training guidelines mandated for law enforcement As an advisor requests for trainings have included team training with POST Certified Trainers for law enforcement officials advisor regarding videos for law enforcement training LEAD TRAINER Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council Responsibilities It is the responsibility of the Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council to provide training to county employees as requested by individual departments employees trained in the past 5 years It has also been the policy of the Council to provide community training regarding domestic violence ie medical personnel mental health professionals etc This has resulted in over MEMBER Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Death Review Team Responsibilities It is the responsibility of the Death Review Team to examine all closed cases regarding that result from homicide or suicide homicide domestic violence The purpose is to determine risk factors and develop a lethality assessment tool for domestic violence homicides look for long term patterns in relationships and commonalties of perpetrators and victims of domestic violence homicides develop through a multi disciplinary approach training modules for county departments and agencies to aid in the prevention of domestic violence and domestic violence homicides Members are appointed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney and the Los Angeles County Sheriff

5 CarolAnn Peterson Curriculum Vitae Page 5 MEMBER Los Angeles County Family Violence Task Force Responsibilities This Task Force was commissioned by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to examine the issue of domestic violence in Los Angeles County as a result of the OJ Simpson case The Task Force published two reports and served as a member of the subcommittee of the Task Force which conducted 5 public information hearings One of five task force members who prepared the final report to the Board of Supervisors Members were appointed by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors COMMUNITY LIAISON Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council Member Executive Committee Responsibilities All functions regarding the Council must be approved by this committee The Committee has participated in press conferences events and fundraisers sponsored by the Council presenters at conferences conference conveners such a Coroner s Conference regarding Domestic Violence Homicides and other issues affecting the Council Chair Legislation Committee Responsibilities This position entails analyzing legislation and its impact on Los Angeles County with recommended positions to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors writing legislation testifying before state legislative committees negotiating with legislators on amending bill language monitoring and tracking legislation representing the Council at other organizations committee coalitions throughout California preparing position papers writing press releases and interviews with press and liaison to the community Chair Editor Public Information Committee Responsibilities This committee writes and publishes four newsletters a year for the Council Distribution is statewide to judges legislators and state agencies with over newsletters distributed each year As Editor all aspects of the newsletter must be coordinated including receiving of all information editing all copy and proofing the layout before it is taken to press CANDIDATE STATE ASSEMBLY th Assembly District California Responsibilities As a candidate for the California State Assembly this task entailed fundraising candidate forums negotiating with State Legislators for endorsement interviewing with state PACs for endorsement and funds as well as writing opinion columns for the various local newspapers LEGISLATIVE ADVOCATE California Federation of Business Los Angeles Sacramento California Professional Women Responsibilities Drafted legislation when necessary amended bill language legislation provided testimony before legislative committees represented the Federation at other organizations committees coalitions throughout California prepared position papers for CFBPW members and legislators wrote press releases interacted with press including interviews served as monitored and tracked advisor to the Federation s Platform Committee and Screening Committee including analyzing legislation and its impact attended political fundraisers liaison to the community including community speaker
