2 Orientation Thank you for becoming a valuable member of Odyssey House s team. The following online training portion of your orientation will introduce you to a foundation of knowledge that will be essential to your success. In the spirit of only being as strong as our weakest link, we invite you to fully engage in your orientation experience and return to these resources whenever needed.

3 Intro to Odyssey House Odyssey House of Utah started in 1971 with assistance from Judianne Densen-Gerber the founder of the first Odyssey House in The first program was the Adult Residential Treatment Program. There are multiple Odyssey House s across the globe: Odyssey House New York Odyssey House Louisiana Odyssey House Texas (Houston) Odyssey House Saginaw & Flint, Michigan Odyssey House Australia Odyssey House New Zealand

4 Mission Helping individuals and families reclaim their lives through effective substance abuse and mental health treatment.

5 Vision It is our vision, at Odyssey House, to emerge as a leader in behavioral healthcare by being a caring, science-based, clientdriven, and mindful set of treatment programs, which is heralded in the community as a program of excellence in which even those with the most difficult problems are afforded a chance to heal, change, and alter their self-destructive lifestyles.

7 The Therapeutic Community Odyssey House utilizes the Therapeutic Community (TC) model, or at least components of the model, in all the services we provide. The TC is an evidence-based best practice for use in substance abuse treatment, including dualdiagnosis treatment (co-occurring substancerelated and mental health diagnoses). You will gain more knowledge on the TC model in a later presentation.

8 ASAM Patient Placement Criteria Odyssey House utilizes the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Patient Placement Criteria as a foundation for assessment and treatment planning within all services. You will gain more knowledge on ASAM Patient Placement Criteria in a later presentation.

11 JCAHO Odyssey House will soon be accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO Accreditation focuses primarily on: -Client Safety -Client & Family-centered Treatment -Ongoing Performance Improvement -Positive Outcomes

12 Funding Our clients receive treatment funding through a variety of sources that have varying requirements: Fee for Service / Private Pay Private Insurance Salt Lake County Behavioral Health Utah County Substance Abuse Services Medicaid & Medicare Utah Division of Juvenile Justice Services Clark County, Nevada Federal Corrections Veterans Administration, and others.
