4 WHY CLEARFORK? We make a long-term commitment to our teens. Both research and experience shows that shortterm addiction recovery doesn t work. Only a significant amount of time and effort will result in lasting change and positive recovery. That s why we encourage our teens to commit to 90 days of treatment with weekly check-ins to ensure they are receiving the help they need.

5 We are gender-specific. Teen boys struggle with many challenges, from peer pressure and academic expectations to the natural difficulties of growing older. We find that adolescents are better able to recover and share their experiences with addiction and substance abuse when they aren t subjected to the added pressure that can come from mixing genders. We are Christ-centered. Real change happens when there is an encounter with God. Our unique approach allows us to present God in a relational manner that is not offensive or harmful to our teens. The God topic is presented just like a best practice therapeutic model would be introduced to teens. We hope to offer them a clear alternative to the difficult path ahead of them, an alternative filled with life, hope, and promise. We provide residential and outpatient treatment for teens struggling with addiction and substance abuse, inviting a select cohort to recover under the guidance of trained professionals at our Texas ranch.

8 WHERE IS CLEARFORK LOCATED? Clearfork Academy sits on a sprawling Texas ranch nestled on the shores of Eagle Mountain Lake with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. At the same time, they enjoy high-end facilities, including relaxing common areas, comfortable shared rooms, a well-stocked kitchen, and an outdoor pool overlooking the lake. Our location is central to what we do here at Clearfork. Our teens explore the landscape all around us through adventure therapy and recreation, including hiking, kayaking, mountain biking, and equine therapy. 14 MEET OUR FOUNDER: AUSTIN DAVIS, LPC-S Austin Davis helps teens create positive, healthy lives through his work as founder and CEO of Clearfork Academy. Today, he finds joy and fulfillment working with difficult clients that challenge his heart and clinical skill set. Prior to founding Clearfork, Austin worked in both local church ministry and clinical counseling, including working in state and public mental health hospitals where he assisted patients with a variety of diagnoses. Originally from the Eagle Mountain area, Austin earned a Bachelor of Science in Pastoral Austin s greatest pleasures in life are being a husband to his wife, Caroline, and a father to his growing children, Tyler, Micah, and Emma. He serves at his local church by playing guitar, speaking, and help with tech arts. Austin also enjoys being physically active, reading, woodworking, and music. Ministry from Lee University in Cleveland, TN and a Master of Arts in Counseling from The Church of God Theological Seminary then went on to become a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in the State of Texas.

15 MEET THE TEAM Baqi Martin, LCSW is the Director of Clinical Services at Clearfork Academy. He has devoted his career to serving and working with children, youth and families. His years of specialized experience have equipped him with a wealth of knowledge and a set of precise and unique skills that make him highly effective in working with children and BAQI MARTIN, LCSW adolescents. Originally from Denton, Texas, Dr. Tatum received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Baylor University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He did his psychiatry training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and is board certified both ROSS TATUM, MD in adult and in child/adolescent psychiatry. Dr. Tatum has been in private practice in Fort Worth since 1995, including providing psychiatric care and evaluations in hospitals, prisons, and foster care agencies. Dr. Atkisson has practiced adult and child psychiatry in Tarrant County since She graduated from Texas Tech University School of Medicine and trained at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry, completing her General Psychiatry Residency and Child and Adolescent Fellowship. 16 HOW DOES CLEARFORK S POINTS SYSTEM WORK? Our points system consists of a three-point accountability program that includes each resident and their therapist and recovery coach team. As part of their treatment, each team member is provided with a weekly scorecard. Residents start with a base level of Tokens per week, and are encouraged to maintain their Token level through participation (participants can also lose Tokens throughout the week based on their level of engagement.) Each resident s scorecard outlines whether their treatment objective was met, the number of therapeutic assignments they have completed, their level of treatment attendance and an evaluation of their engagement, code of conduct and daily functioning. The scorecard is evaluated weekly by our multidisciplinary treatment team. Each week residents and staff present their scorecards in a group setting known as as our Token Ceremony. In this Ceremony, each resident is provided their score for the week and awarded their earned Tokens, which they are allowed to use that week for various privileges.

17 HOW DOES EDUCATION AT CLEARFORK WORK? At Clearfork, we understand how vital education is to long-term success in life. We also know that addiction and substance abuse can lead to truancy, academic struggles, and even being removed from school. This online classroom helps teens stay at grade-level proficiency throughout the duration of their stay. Teens who have fallen behind in their studies can also take advantage of our credit recovery program. 18 WHAT IS INCLUDED IN CLEARFORK S EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY? We believe that teaching our residents to experience life in a sober way is vital to their overall ability to manage sobriety. To help in this process, we use experiential learning opportunities both on campus and within the surrounding community. Our residents engage in activities such as wilderness hikes at surrounding state parks, overnight camping, fire building/survival training, wakeboarding, kayaking, mountain biking, Frisbee Golf, weightlifting and fitness, strategy games, and challenge course activities to help broaden their horizons and teach them valuable lessons.
