FREEDOM STARTS WITH THE FIRST STEP
ADDICTION IS A REAL DISEASE Addiction is a chronic, often relapsing brain disease that causes compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences to the addicted individual and to those around him or her. Although the initial decision to take drugs is voluntary for most people, the brain changes that occur over time challenge an addicted person s self-control and hamper his or her ability to resist intense impulses to take drugs. Herein lies the disease of addiction. You can t just quit having an addiction. Addiction is a true medical disease and can be treated with success.
ADDICTION CAMPUSES PROVIDES all levels of addiction recovery care in a comfortable and safe environment. Our campuses offer the perfect place to reflect, learn, change, and thrive. Our drug and alcohol treatment programs are tailored to each resident, and overseen by dedicated addiction recovery professionals. We provide the most comprehensive illegal drug, prescription drug, and alcohol addiction treatment programs in the country by going beyond the standard 30 day plan. We treat people struggling with addiction medically, mentally, and spiritually to break the cycle of repeated visits to treatment. At Addiction Campuses, you can expect: n An outstanding clinical program n Comfortable accommodations n Recreational activities n Exercise facilities n Medical care and supervision n Nutritious meals
TEACHING LIFE SKILLS We often see that clients not only forget how to enjoy life, but often forget how to live it. Because of this, we have specific programs designed to re-acclimate the recovering client back into a balanced, productive life. Rather than treat a person for 30 days and move them along, our practical life skills programs recognize the need for basic training, such as how to interview for a job, how to open a bank account and write a check, as well as basic rules for self-sufficiency, independence and educational support. Our treatment network is growing. We can provide a wide diversification of care, unique addiction treatment programs and some of the best recovery success rates in the United States. Our many services include: n Intervention assistance n Medical detoxification n Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) n Residential/Inpatient treatment n Outpatient treatment n Addiction counseling n Lifetime Continuum of Care via our Alumni Program

TREATMENT PROGRAMS Adventure Therapy Adventure Therapy, also called Wilderness Therapy and Experiential Therapy, uses varying techniques and environments to bring about change in the individual. These include cooperative games, problem solving initiatives, trust building activities, high adventure (zip lining); and campus expeditions (fishing, wilderness activities). Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) DBT is a skill building, therapeutic approach to treatment that has been proven to work for patients struggling with addiction and other co-occurring mental illnesses. Other studies have found that DBT is superior to traditional addiction treatment in reducing high risk behaviors in patients. Group Therapy Group addiction therapy is a very powerful therapeutic method where clients are exposed to others that are struggling with similar challenges. It reinforces the notion that a client is not alone and helps them discover that they can forgive others, and forgive themselves. Individual Therapy Our individual counseling sessions are designed to comfort the client while addressing the pains and struggles they are experiencing. This allows us to teach coping skills, relationship building strategies, rebuild self-confidence and begin to change negative behaviors into positive outcomes. Art/Expressive Therapy Art/Expressive therapy speaks to the creative process involved in expressing one s self artistically, and can help to resolve issues. By participating in activities like painting, sculpting, and drawing, clients will better understand how to manage their behaviors and feelings, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness.
KEEPING YOU SOBER FOR LIFE Addiction Campuses has put together a comprehensive, outcome-focused, lifetime continuum of care for you to follow after treatment is complete. This plan has all of the necessary support contacts, methods, directives and tactics to ensure that you stay focused, centered and most importantly - sober for life. Lifetime connection to primary therapists and clinicians. Lifetime mobile assessments 24/7/365. One year intensive follow up. Lifetime family program. 24/7 dedicated crisis line for patient & family. Lifetime online education resources. LONG TERM SOBRIETY IS THE GOAL The Addiction Campuses Lifetime Continuum of Care TM will get you there.
PAWS Your loved one WILL experience Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome or PAWS. The Six Types of PAWS Symptoms: Emotional overreactions or numbness - As one withdraws from the emotional insulation that substance abuse provides, they may have difficulty processing emotions. They are more likely to either overreact to situations or to completely shut down and feel nothing. Inability to think clearly - Recovering individuals experience an inability to concentrate, difficulty with abstract concepts, and rigid and/or repetitive thinking patterns. Memory problems - In recovery, individuals are in the process of learning new skills and behaviors, but may have trouble immediately remembering what they have learned. Sleep disturbances - Individuals in the post-acute phase may continue to experience some physical symptoms of withdrawal. Sleep problems may be due to disturbing dreams and well as an inability to fall or stay asleep. Physical coordination problems - Physical coordination issues may include dizziness, impaired handeye coordination, and slower reflexes. Stress sensitivity - Recovering addicts in the postacute withdrawal phase are usually very easily overwhelmed. Care should be taken not to overload them with too much information at this point. What can you do to help ease the symptoms of PAWS? Expect them to complain about their physical pain and their emotional stress. Expect them to forget. Expect them to be unusually sensitive, defensive and scared. Expect them to have periods of intense emotions, paranoia, sleep struggles and fuzzy thoughts. Above all, remember that each person must work through it in their own time. Nervous system damage typically requires from six to 24 months for recovery. Many people experience PAWS symptoms at regular intervals for up to TWO YEARS, including 30-day, 60-day, 90-day,120-day, 180-day, and 1- and 2-year sobriety dates. Research has also shown that some drugs take longer to recover from than others. Be patient, be loving and trust in the process of recovery. Your loved one can and will get better, for life.
THINGS TO BRING: Comfortable clothes / pack as if going on a 7-10 day trip (include shorts, pants or jeans, t-shirts, undergarments, shoes, etc.) Please be mindful of the different seasons and weather conditions. You will have access to a washer and dryer at the residence. Bring a jacket; it can get cooler in the evening. Athletic shoes, exercise clothes and bathing suit. Personal hygiene items. (ingredients must have no alcohol content) All medications currently taking in original, labeled prescription bottles and list of any previous medications. (PLEASE NOTE: During your stay with us you will be responsible for all prescription co-pays.) ID or drivers license. Insurance Card. (if applicable) Books, CD s, MP3 player without internet access or wifi. Cash for personal shopping. (will be kept in director s office) Cigarettes if you smoke, smoking outside only. When first arriving no open packs. Phone Use: During the first phase of treatment, there is a blackout period for phone use. This policy is in place to help you to adjust to campus life and recovery. Exceptions for this rule are reviewed by the campus staff on a case by case basis and clients are always allowed to inform a loved one upon arrival to the facility. PLEASE DO NOT BRING: Weapons Pornography Clothing with alcohol or drug references or graphics
