1 Mikkelsen, BE: Research in Denmark NND school meals New Nordic Cuisine4Many Research & education - from networking to joint development, exchange and collaboration" October 2014, Grythyttan Abstract: There is a growing interest in the virtues of New Nordic diet. This presentation takes a detour round School Meal Program research and reports on some the recent AAU research that applies some of the principles of the NND. The presentation gives a brief account on the part of the OPUS program dealing with school meal programs A school food revolution Global & European Institution with meals for all Institution with no meals for all Institution with meals for some A European diversity School Meal Programs Collective Semi-Collective Non-Collective Example: SE & FI Example: Kindergarten, DK Example: Schools, DK 1
2 Interventions needs to include environment aimed to identify interventions for obesity prevention that evaluated a change in adiposity according to socioeconomic position (SEP) and to determine the effectiveness of these interventions across different socioeconomic groups. Studies that described an obesity prevention intervention and reported anthropometric outcomes according to a measure of SEP were included. Evidence was synthesized using narrative analysis. A total of 14 studies were analysed, representing a range of study designs and settings. All studies were from developed countries, with eight conducted among children. Interventions shown to be ineffective in lower SEP participants were primarily based on information provision directed at individual behaviourchange. Studies that were shown to be effective in lower SEP participants primarily included community-based strategies or policies aimed at structural changes to the environment. Interventions targetingindividual-level behaviourchange may be less successful in lower SEP populations. Recent DK research AAU The naturalø experiment Breakfast club The LOMA intervention The Sol program Other OPUS Is NND healthy? ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE: To describe the dietary composition of the New Nordic Diet (NND) and to compare it with the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (NNR)/Danish Food-based Dietary Guidelines (DFDG) and with the average Danish diet. DESIGN: Dietary components with clear health-promoting properties included in the DFDG were included in the NND in amounts at least equivalent to those prescribed by the DFDG. The quantities of the other dietary components in the NND were based on scientific arguments for their potential health-promoting properties together with considerations of acceptability, toxicological concerns, availability and the environment. Calculations were conducted for quantifying the dietary and nutrient composition of the NND. SETTING: Denmark. SUBJECTS: None. RESULTS: The NND is characterized by a high content of fruits and vegetables (especially berries, cabbages, root vegetables and legumes), fresh herbs, potatoes, plants and mushrooms from the wild countryside, whole grains, nuts, fish and shellfish, seaweed, free-range livestock (including pigs and poultry) and game. Overall, the average daily intakes of macro-and micronutrients in the NND meet the NNR with small adjustments based on evidence of their health-promoting properties. CONCLUSIONS: The NND is a prototype regional diet that takes palatability, health, food culture and the environment into consideration. Regionally appropriate healthy diets could be created on similar principles anywhere in the world. Dietary composition and nutrient content of the New Nordic Diet. Mithril Dragsted, Meyer.
