3 Date: Saturday, January 27, 2018 From: MN State WIC Program and CSC To: All WIC Local Agencies Subject: Update Document A must read for all HuBERT users In This Update Document This document provides information about back-end changes the State has made in HuBERT to food packages in preparation for ewic. There are two main sections to this document: 1. Installation Notes describes the step-by-step install process and how to determine whether the update was successful 2. Back-End Changes food package changes Installation Notes This update will be available the first time you log into HuBERT after January 27, The update is immediate and occurs during the startup process. Remember, to ensure a successful update, you must: Reset the Local Reference Data! (This is essential! Food item changes will not occur otherwise.) If you experience problems, please contact the Help Desk using the Urgent Line ( , 2, 1). Successful Update? You can verify this update by: Open the participant folder of a child in a current certification period Click on the Food Package tab Click the Add button Click the Use Default button Verify WIC Peanut Butter OR Dry Beans OR 4-cans Beans displays Update Document 3 P age

4 Back-End Changes The following is an overview of the back-end food package changes included in this update. Benefit Issuance After January 27, 2018, all women and children with existing food packages will require a new food package before issuing benefits. This is due to changes to juice, legumes and milk. NOTE: If a participant has a future food package, it will also have to be either updated with the new food items or deleted, and a new default food package created Update Document 4 P age

5 Juice CURRENT JUICE OPTIONS Children and Women: Default food packages (DFP) provide frozen concentrate or ready-to-drink 100% juice. HOMELESS options: Provides two different HOMELESS juice options. NEW JUICE OPTIONS Children: DFP will provide ready-to-drink 100% juice Juice option only includes ready-to-drink 100% juice (and HOMELESS) Women: DFP will provide frozen concentrate 100% juice Juice options include ready-to-drink 100% juice or frozen concentrate 100% juice (and HOMELESS) HOMELESS Options: Only one juice option that includes six-pack cans of 100% juice Update Document 5 P age

6 Legumes CURRENT LEGUME OPTIONS Children: DFP provides peanut butter for children Women: DFP provides peanut butter and canned beans for women Options: Legume options include peanut butter, dry beans/peas/lentils, canned beans or alternating NEW LEGUME OPTIONS Children and Women: DFP will provide all options and participants will no longer have to choose in clinic Options: One legume option includes all legume food items Milk CURRENT MILK OPTIONS 1-2 Year Old Children: DFP provides one milk option that includes all types of milk Women and Children with Food Package III Option: One milk option includes 2% or whole milk HOMELESS Option: Issues 2 quarts per benefit Provides any kind of milk for 1-2 year old children and women/children with Food Package III (FPIII) Update Document 6 P age
