1 How to apply the IAU s lassification of Animal Use The example study** involves the following: Animals will be bred for a specific trait, only females will be used in the research Females will be randomized to 3 groups ontrol group, Arm A and Arm ontrol Arm A Arm IM injections, venipuncture, will be before tissue is collected either: - Placebo surgery (chemical restraint only) - Non-survival surgery, or - Survival surgery with post op analgesia either: - Non-survival surgery, or - Survival surgery without post op analgesia ** Note: this is a fictitious study intended only as an example of how to apply the classification of animal use.
