2 ONLINE COURSES KEY: = Number of ASET Continuing 2-month access to all online courses from the time of purchase. Education Credits (CEUs) NCS courses were originally developed by recognized subject matter experts (SME) who are outstanding in the field of nerve conduction studies. University professors were also recruited in the development of these courses. With the ASET NCS national competencies serving as the foundation, SMEs and university professors collaborated on the outline of module topics, and course faculty collaborated on the design, development, and presentation of course offerings. All courses have been peer reviewed for content, content clarity, instructions, and time for completion. NCS 200 ANATOMY AND NEUROPHYSIOLOGY FOR THE NCS TECHNOLOGIST 20 NCS 20 INTRODUCTION TO NERVE CONDUCTION 0 STUDIES AND NCS TERMINOLOGY This course provides information about anatomical locations of specific skeletal, muscular and nervous systems structures that are necessary to begin training in nerve conduction studies. Course content includes basic terms related to the anatomical position, body regions and body planes. There is a focus on information about the central nervous system, (brain, and spinal cord), the peripheral nervous system (cranial and spinal nerves) as well as specific muscles and nerves used in routine NCS. This course will also orient NCS professionals to the physiology involved in recording nerve conduction responses. An introduction to the neurological exam is also included. Topics are meant to provide a solid foundation for advancing to more in-depth nerve conduction courses. Required reading: Literature is provided with a free downloadable textbook. No additional books or materials required. Experience level(s): It is an excellent preparation for technologists of all levels including those preparing to take credentialing exam or in need of continuing education to refresh their skills. Schedule: Ten lessons, eight quizzes, review exercises and a final exam. Format: Self-paced. MP3 audio file player; Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word. This introductory course is designed to help equip the Neurodiagnostic technologist with an understanding of the terms used in nerve conduction studies. The terminology presented orients the learner to the types of procedures performed by NCS technologists; NCS instrumentation and waveforms; signs, symptoms and injuries seen in the types of neurological disorders for which NCS and EMG are used for diagnosis. Recommended text: ) Electromyography and Neuromuscular Disorders by Preston and Shapiro. 5 NCS 20 NERVE CONDUCTION STUDIES FINAL REVIEW AND PRACTICE EXAM This final review and practice exam course is intended to help the learner prepare to take the credentialing exam and is also a capstone for material covered in the ASET NCS Core Curriculum online courses (NCS ). This course includes a 5 practice exams with questions from a 400+ question database. Questions included here fall under the general outline of subjects covered in the credentialing exam. The practice exams will help guide the learner in the appropriate areas of study and allows for simulating both open-ended and timed exams. The practice exams can be taken multiple times. Also included are study aids and guides to help study and prepare for exam topics. Although this is a board preparation review tool, completion of this course does not guarantee the learner will pass the credentialing exam but rather provides a means to practice computer-based testing profession-specific topics. Extensive study is required for exam preparation along with the clinical experience expected for exam eligibility. Committing several hours a week for six months to one year will help adequately prepare for the credentialing exam. Have questions about ASET s Online Education?
