Educational and Clinical Supervisor to FY, ST and SpR trainees Working on MD at Sheffield University (part time) on mood disorders in brain injury in Obtained grant for head injury study (looking at serum markers) Presented at World Congress for Brain Injury, Euro Neurological Society, Euro Fedn for Research in Rehab, World Assoc for Psychological Rehab, World Congress in Neurorehabilitation in last 14 months, raising Trust and specialty profile Medicolegal I have produced a large number of medicolegal reports for court (15-20 per yr) and all but one have been for claimant Considered as an international expert on brain injury based on research output and Committees that I sit on Attended medicolegal training at Bond Solon courses including expert witness and report writing Aim to produce reports within 4-6 weeks once all documents are received; I will not take on work if I cannot produce quickly for instructor I will carry out home visits if individuals cannot travel Personal statement I will produce medicolegal reports as outlined above and think that I have expertise and understanding of Rehabilitation Medicine that offers a holistic and high quality of medical report. I have written reports in all aspects of Acquired Brain injury, cerebral palsy and prosthetics. I am a high calibre individual with a track record of achieving clinical and academic excellence in this specialty. Apart form excellent generic rehab skills, I am considered an expert in brain injury care and complex spasticity, setting up and turning round a department and delivering high quality patient care. Currently I lead a neurorehabilitation service with in and outpatients, specialised rehabilitation including prosthetics and seating and several specialised clinics. We have created the Acute Brain Injury Team, a new service, unique in the UK for Head Injury and I have special interests in head injury, prosthetics, complex spasticity, mood disorders
3 after brain injury and pain management. I have a strong academic interest with considerable research experience and teaching and I am studying part time for an MD. At present I sit on the Education Committee of the British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine, am the UK representative on the European Board of Medical Specialists and am the UK National Training Programme Director for Rehabilitation Medicine. I am also on the Executive Committee of the International Society of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
