PROPOSAL FOR HONG KONG Relational WHOLEBODY FOCUSING AND RELATIONAL WHOLEBODY FOCUSING Professional Trainer Certification Advanced 3 Year Professional Development Training Program in Relatonal Wholebody Focusing Level 3 and Wholebody Focusing Professional Trainer Description of the Five Modules: PART ONE: MODULES 1-3 Wholebody Focusing Introductory COURSE: (November 2017) Wholebody Focusing, Active Consciousness, and the Whole Living Body of Self in its Environment : Me Here in Connection with my Issues and Life Situations This is foundational training in Wholebody Focusing and its six phases. Wholebody Focusing is a new and growing person centered experiential relational BodyMind practice. It incorporates key aspects of Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, Focusing, and the new generation of Field therapies. Module 1 explores the role of wholebody awareness from Grounded Presence in awakening active consciousness of the living body of self in its environment. When we become aware of our own Wholeness in this inter-dependent wholebody way, the instinctual life processes safely encounter and inform adult consciousness. We are then ready to relate to the Wholeness of Other in the very same way. Principles of Positive Psychology, Complexity Theory and Quantum Field Theory inform and explicate this practice. Principle Learning Objectives: - Conscious Embodiment and Wholebody Organismic Awareness - Wholebody Listening to Self - Wholebody Listening to Other - Navigating the Relational Field of Shared Presence, Whole Person to Whole Person - Tracking and Resonating with Inner Directed Movements of Body s own Making - Connecting to Body Wisdom and the larger Intelligence of the Living Body 1
- Healing and Balancing Body, Mind, Spirit - Guiding Others to an Experience of these previous learning objectives - An Experiential Understanding of Subtle Body Energetics 1 and its Impact on my Body, Life Situations, and Relationships - Developing Emotional and Relational Intelligence as Human Beings and as Health Care Professionals Module Number 1: ( May 2018) Participatory Fields of Wholebody Heartfelt Awareness: Inter-Relational Listening from Wholeness of Self: Me Here with You There This module explores further the experience of adult consciousness in relationship with Other from a sense of my own wholeness. Wholebody heartfelt listening, attunement, and resonance with my listening partners and community members supports the emergence of fresh and creative knowing that could not emerge in any other way. We will be highlighting inter-relational skills training in listening to Self and Other, Grounded Presence to Grounded Presence. We learn to relate to our social Coping Mechanisms with gentleness and acceptance so that my unconscious coping mechanisms and related holding patterns grow in awareness of themselves. As I companion my coping mechanisms in this non-doing wisdom way, they re-evaluate their need to work so hard and find a more right way to respond to relational situations. Principles of Inter-Subjectivity, Self Psychology, and Quantum Field Theory inform this practice. Listening to each other within the context of a safe community strengthens and supports an experience of Wholeness of Self regardless of the situation or where we happen to be. This enables our personal history and challenges of relational and social connectedness to gradually emerge into consciousness for sorting out and opening up to new possibilities within the spacious container of Wholeness of Self. Principle Learning Objectives: - Refining skills of Conscious Embodiment 2 in real life and relational situations 2
- Exploring the Inter-relational Dynamics of Wholebody Heartfelt Connection as a Potent Source of Healing and Integration - Wholebody Listening Inside of Relational Space - Wholebody Focusing and Exploration Inside of Relational Space - Working through our Conditioned Response Patterns and Coping Mechanisms in Shared Relational Grounded Presence Spaces - Experiential Understanding of Self Psychology, Inter-Subjectivity, and a larger Experience of Self Supported by Awareness of Inter-Relational Space - An Experiential Understanding of Subtle Body Energetics 2 and its Impact on my Body, Life Situations, and Relationships - Safely Opening Developmental and Relationally-Based Stoppages in a Wholebody Way Inside of Wholebody Heartfelt Connection - Experiencing the Inherent Value of Mutuality in Shared Presence as Human Beings and within the Therapeutic Alliance - Experiential Understanding of Quantum Field Theory and Complexity Theory and its Effects on the Felt Shift and Inner Directed Movement in Wholebody Focusing Practise Module Number 2: (November 2018) Transforming Our Inter-Relational and Developmental Stoppages with Wholebody Heartfelt Conversations: A RELATIONAL Wholebody Focusing Oriented Approach to Working with Trauma From Me Here to We Here This module incorporates the wholebody listening and conscious embodiment skills learned in the Introduction course and Module 1, and applies them specifically to the context of using a Wholebody Focusing Oriented Approach to healing the social nervous system and our issues of developmental and traumabased stoppages. In Module Two we began to explore these possibilities of opening up and healing our history of that. We will deepen into the intricacy and complexity of how these issues express and release themselves through precise holding patterns at every level of being, by tracking the subtle inner directed movements of the Body Wisdom. Inside of the shared conscious relational space of WE HERE, we discover a natural and powerful healing resource in the presence of the Wholebody Listener. Embodiment issues of containment, healthy inter-relational boundaries, safety, and creative co-participative strategies for carrying new life 3
forward will be addressed. As we expand our ability to be fully conscious in our everyday living, the places that are still held and fearful will emerge naturally and open to their own healing. Within the safety and aliveness of our study community, we will be deepening into an inner and outer experience of the conscious living body of wholeness (self in its environment). The dynamic transformational space of the whole living body within its environment will allow each person to actively hold, contain, and invite the re-organization of stopped or incomplete life processes with the support and engagement of the relational Other. Students will build their confidence and creative capacity to fully meet the client, another human being, from an experience of Wholeness of Self. Students will guide many different kinds of clients, inside of their Study Group, towards an experience of opening, healing, and integrating developmental and traumabased stoppages into an ever expanding living body of wholeness and consciousness. Principle Learning Objectives: - Active Inter-Relational Wholebody Listening in a Responsive Way to Focuser/Client s Developmental and Trauma-Based Stoppages - Experiential Understanding of Theory of Trauma in its Somatic and Relational Manifestations - Experiential Understanding of Porges Polyvagal Theory and Central and Peripheral Nervous System Function in Trauma Work - Experiential Understanding of the Theory and Practise of Positive Psychology and Post Traumatic Growth - Conscious Embodiment Skills 3 inside of Therapeutic Relational Space - Refining Skills of Dynamic Listening from Mutuality of the Wholebody Heartfelt Conversation: Wholebody Inter-subjective Attunement, Rosonance, Listening, and Responsiveness - Deepening our Relationship to Body Wisdom and the Larger Experience of Self inside of Relational Space - Modulating our Personal Field of Awareness to Meet and Resonate with the Client s Experiencing - Maintaining a Connection to the Living Body of Wholeness (Body Wisdom) in the Presence of Trauma or When the Client Cannot do that for Themselves 4
- Self-Care within the Safety of Wholebody Presence as a Lifelong Practise and Possibility - Working with Somatic Manifestations of Trauma and Complex Trauma with skill and safety Module Number 3: (MAY 2019) Using Relational Wholebody Focusing to Enliven and Improve Adult Intimacy and Everyday Relationships Based on Mutuality: Navigating Situations of Conflict, Dissonance, Emotional Intensity, Differences of Opinion and Mutual Triggering In Modules 1 through 2, we have been learning to embody an experience of wholeness of self with consciousness, whilst being in relationship to our Wholebody Focusing Partner. In Module 3, we are becoming confident that we master the advanced experiential and inter-relational practice of Wholebody Focusing in our body, being, and everyday lives. Gradually, over time, within the safety of the intimate Wholebody Heartfelt Connection and Conversation, we have learned to trust our innate Body Wisdom. The presence of the relational Other, in this shared wholebody way, has allowed me to heal my long-standing developmental and trauma-based stoppages and life issues. I recognize that I am bravely and naturally showing up as myself, fully embodied, inside of my real moment personal and inter-personal life situations. I now embody my own inner knowing of how to show up as myself inside of relational spaces where perhaps the other person cannot meet me there. Despite our relational dissonance, I am finding ways to show up anyway and perhaps invite the other person to also meet me, in their own right ways. During Module 3, we find our naturalness as we begin guiding others to a similar experience for themselves. Module 3 begins to orient this practice towards the professional Trainer context. Students will continue to enrich their own lives, and that of their loved ones and communities, by practicing together in a more dynamic and natural way, the inter-human life skills of Modules 1 and 2. With classroom demonstrations and peer practice of demonstrated skills, students will grow in their capacity and 5
self-confidence to embody this experience of wholeness of self embodied in complex and challenging everyday relational situations. Principle Learning Objectives: - Experiential Understanding of Attachment Theory and its Energetic, Relational and Behavioral Manifestations - Experiential Understanding of Inter-Relational Space from a Quantum Field Perspective - Experiential Understanding of Subtle Energy Dynamics inside of Relational Space during the Relational Wholebody Heartfelt Connection and Conversation Session - Guiding the Focuser/Listener Safely to a Larger Experience of Self in Relationship with an Issue or Stoppage from Mutuality of Shared Presence - Modulating Wholebody Focusing Practise to Support important relationships of intimacy, friendship and collegiality - Experiential and Theoretical Understanding of Relational Wholebody Focusing as a Somatic and Relational Field Practise - Applying Relational Wholebody Focusing to Different Community Populations, Contexts and Situations - Working Through the Complexity of Relational Stoppage and Challenges with our loved ones in a WBF Oriented Way Using skills of Conscious Embodiment, Wholebody Attunement, Resonance, Responsiveness and Listening Inside of Relational Space - Experiential Understanding of the Somatic, Relational and Energetic Manifestations of Important and Challenging Human Relationships - 6
PART TWO: MODULES 4-5 RELATIONAL WHOLEBODY FOCUSING PROFESSIONAL TRAINER CERTIFICATION COURSE Modules 4 and 5 are oriented towards mastery of skills required to become a Relational Wholebody Focusing Trainer to both individuals and groups. Module Number 4 : (November, 2019) and Module 5: (November 2020) Modules 4 and 5 develop student skills and confidence in delivery the various elements of Relational Wholebody Focusing to individual clients and to groups of students from various populations in Hong Kong. We will develop training materials and practice delivering these teachings to the study group in small group format and whole group format during Module 4. The first six months would specifically address "How to Teach and Deliver" key aspects of Relational Wholebody Focusing to your particular public, community, and colleagues. We will provide a comprehensive Relational Wholebody Focusing Teacher Manual. This manual breaks down all principle teaching/learning aspects of the practise according to specific experiential exercises, their objectives and how to deliver it. Working from this Teacher's Guide Manual, participants will co-deliver specific experiential exercises to the whole group from their own perspective, orientation and interest. We will "guide and teach one another". With the safe and respectful feedback offered by the whole group, we will develop and enrich our skills and confidence as Relational Wholebody Focusing Teacher Professionals. Some of you will want to elaborate your own way of presenting key elements of the practise for your own particular public. We encourage you to follow your own particular inner direction and voice! These elements might include: 1) How to present and lead exercises to explore Inner Directed Movements 2) How to present and lead exercises to explore Grounded Presence and a connection to Wholeness of Self embodied 3) How to present and lead exercises in conscious embodiment in a NON Doing and Being With attitude 4) How to present and lead exercises in exploring We Here relational space in a wholebody way 7
5) How to present and lead exercises in exploring negative or triggered responses safely: Holding Both Wholeness of Self and Something wanting my attention 6) How to present the value of conscious relational embodiment to New Learners in your own words 7) How to teach and facilitate the experience of Wholebody Listening safely and dynamically in a group setting 8) How to work with a group or individuals who are difficult or resisting receiving the invitation to explore embodiment and a larger connection with presence The second six months of Module 5, would specifically address how to use Wholebody Focusing with other methods and practises, working in triads of student co-facilitators. The three principle skills to be learned and practised by this triad of co-facilitators includes: 1) Holding the structure of learning with clarity and stability: Relational Embodiment of Me in We 2) Following the energy and rhythm of a group with flexibility and stability: Relational Embodiment of Me in We 3) Developing the Capacity to be Me and also to Guide We, seamlessly, using the embodiment skills of Relational Grounded Presence We envision working in Pairs and Triads as this practise implies a relatedness within the delivery and experiential process. Perhaps there is someone in the program with whom you "mesh" and with whom you imagine designing a Mini Relational Wholebody Focusing Workshop for the whole class. We encourage you to consider your own unique take on this practise and how it crosses with your own existing practises and interests. For example, Crossing: Spontaneous Movement with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Leadership Embodiment Coaching with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Traditional Focusing with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Performing Arts with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Counselling or other psychological practises with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Group Processes with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Personal Healing and Development with Relational Wholebody Focusing; New Creative Projects with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Mindfulness/Meditative Practises with Relational Wholebody Focusing; Community Based Projects and Initiatives with Relational Wholebody Focusing; The list is endless. Perhaps you can find yourself in the examples above, perhaps you will articulate your own living experiential examples. 8
With this 12 month Teacher Trainer Program, we are offering a framework for you to bridge this practise with your own lives as Trainers and Coordinators. We are also endeavouring to create a dynamic network of Relational Wholebody Focusing Professionals in Hong Kong and China which will continue to envision and create new and ever freshly innovative programs for your own students and colleagues. Our hope is that you will get the support you need to bring your own projects and vision of this work into your world contexts. It may be that you do not plan on teaching or leading groups yourself and simply desire to develop a deeper confidence with the practise and how to guide others in your everyday lives. These two modules will give you the deepened practise and confidence you need to continue benefitting from your personal practise and Listening partnerships. 9
