1 INVITATION FOR RESEARCH PROPOSAL The Judicial Training & Research Institute, U.P. was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh with a vision for up gradation of educational skills and attitudinal reorientation through induction level and in-service training to new appointee Judges/Prosecutors and other stake holders of Justice Delivery system in consonance with the imperatives of national and global environment to the judges of the subordinate courts in the country. The Institute is functioning under the patronage of Hon ble The Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court. The faculty members of the Institute comprises of The Chairman, Director, Officers of HJS cadres and U.P Nyayik Sewa. Experts in the field of Law and Management also conduct various programmes in the area of Knowledge, Skills and Attitude. Judges of Hon ble High Court & Hon ble Supreme Court are also visiting this institution for conducting programmes for Judicial Officers and other Stake holders. The Institute also regularly organises seminars / workshops on current legal issues. In addition to above, the Institute also publishes journals, digests and brochures of law and distribution thereof to the judicial officers of the State. This institution, is dedicated towards building a quality institution with best research facilities and develop competent Judges and other stake holders. In addition to above, the institution is extensively involved in study, analysis and research relating to legal education and practical problems in the working of District Courts including different initiatives in the Court Management in expeditious disposal of cases, improvement in administration of Justice for quality & timely justice with special focus on the access to Justice to the Marginalised. The broad approach of research being conducted in the Institute includes study of the impact of the statutes and the challenges, Multiplicity of enactments, Procedural Laws vis-à-vis speedy Justice, Changes in law due to globalization and soci-cultural aspects, Improvement in Justice delivery system, Legal reforms etc.

2 The Institute with the said vision, proposes to conduct research through the Universities, Institutes, NGOs, Individuals in the different area of Law/management/Social Sciences. INVITATION FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS The Judicial Training & Research Institute, U.P invites application for research projects (as per the enclosed format) from the Universities, Institutes, NGOs, Individuals. Necessary financial support/assistance will be extended for conducting such research. The broad proposed area of research would be : 1) Strengthening of ADR Mechanism in Subordinate courts of U.P. 2) Improving Access to Justice to marginalized in Subordinate courts of Uttar Pradesh. 3) Strengthening of Justice Delivery System with special reference to role of Stake holders. 4) Provisions pertaining to Juveniles: Issues & Challenges. 5) Domestic Violence Provisions: Roles of Stake Holders & issues/challenges. The Eligibility Criteria (a) The applicant/institution/ngo, must be having past experience of conducting in legal & Empirical research in similar field. (b) The applicant/institution/ngo, must have sufficient resources/team/networks and tools to conduct such researches. (c) Preferences will be given to the Individuals/Institutions having the research team with the Background of law or past experience as Judicial Officer/ Prosecutor. The Evaluation Criteria The research proposal will be examined by the Research committee, Judicial Training & Research Institute, U.P, Lucknow and shortlisted candidates/representatives will be called for interview. Duration The duration of research project should not exceed One year from the date of the approval of the research proposal unless a longer period is otherwise justified.

3 Documents to be submitted with the research proposal The proposal should contain Synopsis of the project explicitly specifying the objective, scope and issues that would be addressed and research methodology etc., complete bio-data including experience and credentials in the relevant field of interest,, the estimated expenditure/budget. (Refer to the Format of research project.)
