1 U-SHAPE HIGHLIGHTS International Center Purpose: This document (U-SHAPE HIGHLIGHTS) is meant to serve as a supplement to the U-SHAPE Report. You should have received the U-SHAPE Report and U-SHAPE HIGHLIGHTS at the same time. The purpose of HIGHLIGHTS is to provide additional information most relevant to the International Center. Summary: As mentioned in the U-SHAPE Report, the U-SHAPE survey contains over questions. In this document we have highlighted just a handful of survey items that may be of particular interest to you. We would be happy to provide additional information at any point. Our data allow us to analyze almost any survey item by student characteristics of interest (the exception being questions containing skip logic). For this reason we have provided a copy of the U-SHAPE survey in its entirety. Please let us know if there are any other survey items for which you would like customized analyses. We should also note that we asked non-u.s. citizens to report their country of citizenship, so we are able provide country-by-country or regionby-region analyses if that is of interest. Below we have focused on comparative analyses between international and U.S. citizens, with data broken down by gender and student type (undergraduate vs. graduate student). In total, 3 respondents are international (9 undergraduate females, undergraduate males, 9 female graduate, and 1 male graduate ). The analyses presented below suggest that eating disorders are more prevalent among international undergraduate females and males than among their U.S. counterparts. International graduate report more barriers to healthy food than U.S. graduate. Rates of personal stigma towards eating disorders are elevated among international across gender and degree types. Next Steps for U-SHAPE: U-SHAPE is founded in the spirit of collaboration and we strive to bridge research with practice. With that said, we are eager to discuss the findings of this report in person, to answer questions by , and to collaborate in any way that would be meaningful for you. Please us to initiate these conversations and feel free to share this document with your colleagues at U-M. There are many next steps for the study, including application of findings, study expansion, and the development of educational and intervention materials. Your engagement with these findings can play an important part in helping our research team identify priorities for U-M! Note about Statistical Analyses: Unless otherwise noted, statistical significance is based on comparative analyses of citizenship, conducted separately by student type. For example, undergraduate females*** indicates that there are highly significant differences for that survey item between international undergraduate females and U.S. citizen undergraduates females. *p<., **p<.1, ***p<.1 U-SHAPE HIGHLIGHTS 212 for internal use only 1

Please be in touch! U-SHAPE is founded in the spirit of collaboration and strives to bridge research with practice. With that said, we are eager to pursue further analyses that may be of interest to you and/or to discuss the findings in person, either one-on-one or at a staff meeting.
