3 Dear colleagues: The Cuban Society of Health Psychology and the National Psychology Group of the Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, are pleased to invite you to the 8 th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY, PSYCHOHEALTH 2017, which will be held from October 30 th to November 3 rd, 2017, at the Havana International Conference Center, Cuba. The aim of this important meeting is to contribute to the fluid and wide exchange of insights among the participants of the event. The issues will tackle down on methodological, theoretical and practical aspects of Health Psychology, which is the foremost discipline of the Conference, and its link with other specialties and fields of knowledge whose object of study is the human health. As in other editions, the diversity of approaches and the multi and interdisciplinary work that will be present in this meeting will guarantee the advances attained worldwide in relation to the psyche and its increasing role in health prevention, promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and assessment. A great deal of important personalities all over the world will gather in Havana to attend the most essential event related to psychological knowledge and work, with just one shared distinction: Working for the health of the human being. We, the Cuban psychologists, are aware of the high responsibility shared with colleagues around the world which represents working for the development of the psychological sciences, looking after its quality and efficacy, and most importantly, growing its influence on daily matters where problems of disease-health process do not escape. 3

4 Over 43 years of professional practice is considered as an indisputable work that we will share with humble, with all those professional people who make up their mind to join us and show everything they do, their insights and learn from them as well, as essential premise derived from a dynamic of scientific and human exchange. During the days of the event, we will be ready to celebrate the 498 th Anniversary of Havana Foundation, capital of all Cubans. It will also motivate to invite you to share science, culture, art and history, as well as fill the cosmopolitan city with the presence of those who will make her more universal. Psychology and palliative cares SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM During the Conference, delegates will have the opportunity to attend different modalities of presentations by international well-known personalities such as master lectures, round tables, symposia, oral presentations, poster presentations, and dynamic presentations (videos and electronic signs). Cuban and foreign well-known professors will teach pre-conferences courses, which will be informed in next edition. WORKING LANGUAGES Spanish, English and French. There will be simultaneous interpreting service in the opening and closing sessions, as well as in the working sessions appointed by the Scientific Committee. 9

10 MODALITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM Master Lectures Round Tables Symposia Free topics: Oral Posters Videos Free topics 30 minutes 90 minutes 120 minutes Oral Presentations They will be submitted in thematic sessions. Lecturers will have only ten minutes for their presentations and other five minutes for possible questions and answers. Posters There will be a designated area for poster presentations. The size of these posters must be 0.86 cm (width) and 120 cm (length). Day and hour for the presentations of each paper will be included in the Scientific Program. The author will be present at the appointed time to answer possible questions. Electronic Signs Theses presentations will be meet the requirements of the audiovisual aids. Videos They will last up to 20 minutes. Additionally, presenters will have only 5 minutes for questions and answers. The videos must be submitted in DVD or VCD format. Those interested people will be able to request their modality of presentation (oral, poster or video). However, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to determine the modality and inform the author. 10

11 SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS The authors of free presentations must submit their abstracts to the Scientific Committee before July 31 st, 2017, at the following There will be exceptional extra times according to the circumstances. The Scientific Committee will analyze the submitted abstracts and inform the author before September 1 st, If the paper is accepted for the inclusion in the scientific program, the author will be requested for submitting the corresponding full paper in accordance with the norms, and it will be published in the CD containing the proceedings of the event. Norms for the submission of abstracts Abstracts should be submitted in sheet of papers of 8.5 x 11, with onespace and a half between lines, using Arial 12 points letter and Word 6.0 (Microsoft) or higher. The title should appear in the middle and written in bold, capital letter. It must not have more than 15 words. The following information about the main author must appear three spaces after the title: full name; professional, scientific or academic category; field of activity; affiliation center or entity; country; fax or telephone number; personal address and . This will be followed by the list of the paper co-authors, with the initial letter of the first name(s) followed by the second one and separated by commas. The first and second names of the person in charge of the presentation must be underlined. The text of the abstract will appear three spaces after the names, without heading, space on the first line of the paragraph, or additional space between paragraphs. It should not exceed 250 words. Besides, it should have the following structure: introduction, purpose of study, materials and methods, results and conclusions. Specify the topic where paper will be included. Specify the audiovisual aids to be used in the presentation. 11

12 In the case of videos, authors must include a brief description of the content, as well as format and duration. Deadline for the submission of Abstracts: July 31 st, 2017 After being the Abstracts checked and approved by the Scientific Committee, the full paper must be sent before: September 1 st, Norms for the submission of full papers Papers will have no more than 8 pages, with the following structure: abstract, introduction, objectives, materials and methods, results, debates, conclusions and bibliographic reference. The text will be submitted in 8.5 x 11 papers, with a space and a half between the lines, Arial 12, in Word System 6.0 (Microsoft) or higher, or in Adobe Acrobat PDF format with the following specifications: The title will be written in the middle with bold, capital letter, in no more than 15 words. The names of the authors will be written three spaces after the title, with the initials of the name (s), followed by the second name, separated by commas, and underlining the name and second name of the person responsible for the presentation. After this, the institution (s) the author belongs to will be specified as follows: name of the institution, zip code, city and country. Phone number, fax, and must be included as well. The images, tables, and/or graphics must be included in the Word or PDF document. The paper will not have more than 1 megabyte. In case the document has more than 300 Kbytes, it must be compacted in multivolume format with the aforementioned size. If the document is not written with these specifications, it will be rejected. 12

13 Deadline for the submission of Papers: October 5 th, AUDIOVISUAL AIDS FOR ROOM PRESENTATIONS Data and video projector Computer Audiovisual aids required for presentations, should be requested in advance to the Scientific Committee. CDs, DVDs and also mass storage drives enclosing the papers will be submitted by the lecturers at the Audiovisual Aids Reception Office, 24 hours before the presentation in the room. Digital presentations must meet the following requirements: Windows operating systems Power Point Presentations CD, DVD and mass storage drives presentations Compressed presentations with the following applications: WinZip version 8,0 (or lower) Winrar version 2,5 (or lower) Arj The applications needing associated programs must have the following installations: (QuickTime, Adobe Acrobat, and so forth). 13
