5 Lead Anesthesiologist on MH-TMC Fire Safety Team, 2017-present Lead Anesthesiologist on MH-TMC Evacuation of anesthetized patients due to external disaster 2018 McGovern Medical School at UT Health Gave MMS Admissions presentation to Health Careers Advisor at Texas A&M University, November, 2017 CURRENT TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES: Residency Clinical supervision and teaching of two residents and two concurrent cases, which involves supervision of invasive procedures, pre-operative preparation, intra-operative lecturing and clinical teaching. McGovern Medical School Introduction to airway management and endotracheal intubation for medical students who are on non-anesthesia rotations in the operating room. CURRENT CLINICAL SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES: Memorial Hermann Hospital-TMC (primary site) and LBJ Hospital (secondary) Care for patients undergoing surgical procedures- this includes preoperative care, inter-operative anesthetic management and post-operative care. On call responsibility involves 2 overnight 14 hour calls per month and 2 12 hour weekend calls per month. Also 2-3 late calls are performed per month. In addition, I volunteer for 2-3 additional weekend shifts OR Director: In this role, I am responsible for the smooth running of the adult operating rooms at MH- TMC. This involves ensuring all 32 operating room locations and 8 off site locations are properly staffed with faculty, residents and AAs. In addition to making the assignments, I am responsible for being available for emergent cases and to be able to assist with any problems that arise in these locations. These may be as mundane as ensuring lunch breaks are given or as serious as assisting with massive transfusion. Through constant communication with nursing and other support staff we have increased case volume and improved quality of care. I am the faculty who is called if a difficult invasive line or intubation needs to be performed. CURRENT MENTORING ACTIVITIES: I have mentored several pre-medical students and allowed them to shadow me in the operating room in order to expose them to the field of medicine, with special emphasis on the field of anesthesiology. In addition, I have applied to be a mentor for the JAMP pre-medical students for the summer of Page 5
