2 Introduction Hypertension or high blood pressure (HBP) is an important public health challenge. Increased chronic disease burden The awareness, treatment & control is lagging behind. Lifestyle modification is recommended for control of high BP (Guideline for management HT, 2007)

4 Problem Statement (continue) * How to promote life-long behavior change? * Perceived self-efficacy, self care and self regulation could be a tool?

5 Objectives To assess the effect of self-efficacy Intervention program to control BP in elderly people with HT. To compare the effect of self-efficacy intervention program between intervention and control group; BP, BMI, health responsibility, physical activity, nutrition, interpersonal relations and stress management.

7 Study Population Criteria: Un-control hypertension patient from Health Centre 19, Bangkok, Thailand Aged between 60 yrs and over. Duration of illness less than 5 years without complication. Voluntary Participation. The sample = 100 elderly with hypertension

8 Measurement Tools: The Structured questionnaire * Demographic * Health responsibility * Physical activity * Nutrition * Interpersonal relations and * Stress management * Physical Examination: Weight, Height, BP

10 Procedure of Program: Session Activities (3 hours) Treatment Group Evaluation 1 1. Physical check up [Pre-test] 2. Ice breaking; introduction session and sharing the history of illness. 3. Self Evaluation of individual behavior 4. Encourage methods to maintain daily self records by the elderly. Physical test, Questionnaire, blood pressure Observation: participation and contribution 2 1. Orientation how to select and analysis the good menu for HT 2. Orientation cooking healthy foods 3. Positive role model by competition in order to find out the best model 1. Assess the understanding by asking questions randomly. 2.Observation: participation and contribution

The effectiveness of Self-efficacy in controlling BP among elderly with hypertensive patients and preventing oneself from the secondary complications. It is recommended that this program be provided to other patients with chronic diseases at another Hospital.
