13 Valuing Active Life in Dementia In the UK over 700,000 older people have dementia; they experience deterioration in activities of daily living, reduced ability in social and functional activities In The Netherlands a Community Occupational Therapy Intervention for Dementia (COTID) has demonstrated benefits to quality of life of patients and their carers. VALID is implementing COTID in the UK Aims: promote independence, meaningful activity and quality of life for people with dementia and their family carers * Research study funded by the NIHR Programme Grants for Applied Research and led by Professor Orrell and Dr Wenborn
14 Economic evaluation Markov decision model to assess the costs and effects of COTID-UK versus Treat As Usual (TAU) using a lifetime horizon Costs: NHS perspective & costs borne by families and carers Outcomes will be valued in Bristol Activities of Daily Living Scale (BALDS) and Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) Results will show the difference in costs and effectiveness of COTID and TAU and will tell if COTID is cost-effective Sensitivity analysis Results in 2018
