7 Pathway Project We need your help December 16- February 17 Meeting with memory service consultants and service leads: Discuss current pathways Barriers to improving waiting times Any initiatives to improve waiting times Integration with neurology / geriatric medicine Engagement with research We are asking memory services to spend 1 hour with us to facilitate this 7

9 Department of Health Prime Minister s Challenge on Dementia 2020 PM Challenge on Dementia 2020 contains over 50 commitments split across four themes: - Risk reduction - Health and care - Awareness - Research Implementation Plan published in March

10 Prime Minister s Challenge on Dementia 2020: Research Five key priority themes emerged during an engagement exercise with the research community and people with dementia: 1. Providing more opportunities for people with dementia and their carers to get involved in research. 2. To improve collaboration across the sector by creating new opportunities and improving communication. 3. Developing capacity in the field ensuring a diverse researcher workforce to deliver the aspirations. 4. Providing coordination and alignment of current and future research initiatives. 5. Encouraging inter-disciplinary working and innovation in research. 10

11 PM Challenge 2020: Research commitments Total of 6 research commitments largely committing to increased funding. Through support from the Memory Assessment Network, it is feasible for the London Dementia Clinical Network to directly support two commitments: Increased numbers of people with dementia participating in research, with 25 per cent of people diagnosed with dementia registered on Join Dementia Research and 10 per cent participating in research. Open access to all public funded research publications 11
