5 CAE-ICCU Bedside Ultrasound Seminar: June 4 th CAE-ICCU in collaboration with the Canadian Critical Care Society is interested in offering a Bedside Ultrasound training seminars designed to teach basic principles of the sonographic exam being used as an extension to the physical examination. Seminars are addressed to physicians with or without prior ultrasound experience, including intensivists, ER physicians, anesthesiologists, surgeons, cardiologists, nurse practitioners, etc. All seminars are provided by highly trained critical care physicians and certified sonographers. The practical session is organized with portable ultrasound devices. The ratio is 1 ultrasound machine per group of 2-3 people, ensuring that each participant receives ample practice time. A portion of the hands-on session will include practicing on a high fidelity echocardiography simulator that allows participants to scan various acute cardiac pathologies. Fee for the seminar would be $995 (+ taxes) for CCCS members and $1195 (+taxes) for non CCCS members. 8 Upcoming Events 2011 ICCU Seminar Series Bedside Ultrasound in the ICU May 6 7, 2011, Montreal, QC Registration and information at Canadian Critical Care Review Program June 2 & June 3, 2011, Delta Meadowvale Conference Center, Mississauga, ON Online registration will begin on October 25, National Acute Critical Events Simulation (National ACES) July 7 8, 2011; Halifax, Nova Scotia. The ACES course introduces the concepts of crisis resource management (CRM) along with approach strategies and practical skills required in early resuscitation with an emphasis on simulation as an educational strategy. The course covers 6 CanMeds Roles: communicator, collaborator, advocate, scholar and professional, as well as medical expert. Tuition for National ACES cost $500 per participant.
