3 Dementia by the Numbers 107,000 Washingtonians estimated living with dementia Up to 324,000 unpaid family caregivers Alzheimer s is the 3rd leading age-adjusted cause of death in Washington State

4 Dementia by the Numbers Older African Americans are 2x as likely and Latinos 1.5 x as likely to have dementia than older whites Dementia population has more than triple the number of hospital stays per year than others. Fewer than half of people with dementia have received a diagnosis.

7 Dementia Action Collaborative (DAC) Foster hope and empowerment for Washingtonians with dementia Individuals and families will receive the support and care they need through early detection and diagnosis, dementia-capable health and long term supports and services, and communities that are prepared to meet their needs Reach all of Washington, are culturally sensitive/relevant
