19 What Can Happen To Someone Abusing Prescription Drugs? Slurred speech, shallow breathing, fatigue, disorientation, lack of coordination, & seizures. Abuse of any prescription drug can lead to addiction. Abuse of mind-altering prescription drugs can impair judgement and lead to elevated risk of diseases. Will lead to jail or prison time. Negative impact on relationships with family & friends. Negative short-term & longterm health consequences. Paranoia, high body temps, & irregular heart beat. Drowsiness, nausea, constipation & slowed breathing.
20 Misuse & Abuse Avoidance Can be avoided by educating about the serious risks involved with prescription drug misuse and abuse. Use the knowledge to refuse invitation to abuse prescription drugs. Share the knowledge with others. Report abuse to a parent, teacher, SRO, school guidance counselor, or other trusted adult. Ignore the offer and walk away.
