9 RISKS & IMPACT ON MENTAL HEalth Depression Anxiety Psychosis Violence Brain damage Withdrawal Dependence Ice is more addictive than most other drugs, especially in crystal form. Methamphetamine use is associated with a higher risk of mental health problems as well as physical health risks. These physical risks include dental issues, heart problems, vein problems, bacterial infections, kidney and lung problems and weight-loss. The use of ICE can bring on symptoms of mental health issues throughout the come down stage, in particularly depression and anxiety. Methamphetamine is very unpredictable drug. It is toxic and can sometimes result in something much more fatal. 9
10 CRIME STOPPERS involvement? Crime Stoppers WA is working together to help make WA safer. Our aim is to prevent and solve crime and in conjunction with the police and yourself, we can reduce the impact of misbehavior, damage, drugs, personal safety, stealing and terror just to name a few. Crime Stoppers WA has launched Dob In A Dealer to focus on the increase in methamphetamine consumption and dealing in our community. Illicit drugs such as Ice can create a physical, mental, and emotional change in a person. Ice can cause users to act violent and pose significant threat to themselves or others. If you have any information about alleged drug sellers, alleged manufacturers of drugs or the use of drugs - lets work together to solve and prevent the impact of drug related crime. Together we can increase and work to eliminate drug intake and dealing in our communities. Help spread the awareness of the fact that there are real risks and harms associated with using illicit drugs. 10
11 WHO IS BEING AFFECTED? Ice affects more than just the user. The impact of the use of Ice can effect and be hard on families and friends due to the aggressive and violent behavior that is sparked from being under the influence of the drug. It is best to try not to get involved in confrontation or argument with someone who is under the influence. Ice affects three parts of the brain. It triggers the brain to produce a greater release of the chemical dopamine. Boosts up to 1000 times higher than normal levels. Thus explaining the intensity overall on the users body and actions. 11
12 All information is anonymous. Crime Stoppers provides the community with a safe and secure avenue to pass on information confidentially. If you see something, say something. Report information confidentially online at: 12
